Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Fuengirola are wonderful (I was 23 once and would have loved to go there with my boyfriend!). You are close enough to visit Puerto Banus and Marbella and see how the other half live and you are also able to book a trip to Gibraltar (great shopping and not to be missed).
At my age I now prefer Benalmadena but if I was a bit younger I would probably head for Torremolinos (although my heart lies in Benalmadena!) We got home a couple of weeks ago from the Holiday Village, Benalmadena. Avoid it like the plague if you are a young couple because it is full of children (great for us with a 10 and 8 year old and we definitely had the best holiday ever with the kids).
Only problem with the Costa del Sol is that you will get bitten by the bug. I really don't want to go anywhere else and now my husband refuses to go again until we holiday somewhere else so I have booked us a trip to Cuba next year as I can't find anywhere in Europe that matches up. However I will be back in 2007! (if not before).
Also, the Costa del Sol has the most temperate weather so October should be lovely.
Enjoy - and avoid the child friendly properties which will be overrun with children even outwith school holidays (you are only young, free and single once!)

fantastic views tooooo. Sol Aloha Playa is also a lovely hotel but more the far end of Benalmadena but the stroll to the night life isnt too far. Out of the 3 i would chose the Sol Timor for views and all things at hand but for comfort it would be the Pepita Alay. Happy hols Anna. xxxxxx
thanks for the advice will probably go for fuengirola or benalmadena, although Marbella sounds good too!! can anyone recommend hotels either exclusively for adults or where there wont be too many children. I have nothing against kids at all but would like somwhere quiet and dont need clubs or activities.
Have a look on the hotel reviews on Holiday Truths for the Costa del Sol (look at the ones with 4 or 5 stars). There are some good hotels/aparthotels listed and it's well worth a look. It tells you at the top of each review who the people have booked with so can check the internet and get an idea of prices on the travel agent's websites. I've had a look with a view to my husband and I going away ourselves for a week and when you read the reviews it tells you if the people travelled with children and what they thought of each place.
Good luck and happy hunting.
Lou
