Hi,
I am due to book my cruise tomorrow and still cannot decide on which deck to book my cabin.
The higher decks are pricier. Does this mean there is less chance of motion sickness?? are lower decks more stable or higher??
pleeeassseee help.

anyone??
On previous cruises I have been on we have usually always had a lower deck cabin. Once you start moving around the ship, the higher you get the more you can feel the ship moving.
Hope this helps.
It's as sugarbabe says.
i think we are going to oft for inside on deck 6 of OV 2 from the 2nd Jan. we will have more to spend on excursions then.
For stability then midshipslow down is best.
for port intensive trips then a cabin near where the gang plank will be can be handy these are also usualy handy for reception and the main restaurants on some ships. watch out for the midships cabin close to the tender station.
For trips where you spend more time on board then a cabin one deck below the pool deck handy for the pool and the buffet.
All of these will generaly be midships so beingone or two cabins from the stair well cuts down on walking.
Some ships may have other features that may be atractive cabin wise, eg princess have a small pool aft and this is normaly not used by many people so a cabin near here is like having your own extra largebalcony.
Think about location issues when on board so you are clued up on your personal preferences for next time.
1) How long will I use the cabin, therefore do i need a top grade
2) is it near the anchor or lifeboats, both used and are noisy at tender ports
3) Is it near the the rear of the ship, what are the engines like, is it older and therefore could have some turbine vibration whilst at full speed?
4) Do you want a quiet time, therefore would it be sensible to be on a deck directly below or above resturant, disco, pool, entertainment areas or even reception where a lot of noise or traffic will pass your cabin.
5) Darkness, Port holes or windows, what to choose? I only sleep in my cabin and thats usually only once the casino is shut. I go to sleep in darkness and wake up early to get out and about so I always feel spending extras on having a view is wasted. Some ships sell you a view then hide you behind a lifeboat davit. If you want to sip coffee on a balcony or in your room watching the world go by, then yes, get a large window. If you just like to be aware of the weather and stuff when you wake up, have a port hole. If, like me, you like a surprise and turn up for breakfast the only one in summer gear whilst its pouring down, go without. LOL
Now the above views are mine, I'm not trying to force them on anyone, its how I view the ships. Most ships will provide a very thorough map and accomodation plan so you can see whats above and below you and major walkways and even watertight doors.
As far as whats most stable, I prefer to be lower down, and slightly forward of middle. I also prefer older ships with a more classic sleek hull rather than the modern ships with a broader and flatter style.
Hope this helps

It is also wise to have a lower grade room on a higher grade of ship than a high grade of room on a lesser ship.
Once outside your room you have all the facilities of the ship regardless of what the people in suites etc.
If the cost is important to you then I think you are making the right decision.

we decide a while ago on an inside cabin, but all comments are still welcome.
we based our decision on a number of factors although the main one being price if i'm honest.
we did a cruise 3 years ago and when you weigh up the amount of time spent in cabin against the extra cost, IMHO it simply isn't worth the extra for my personal circumstances. we intend going to bed when it is dark and being up and out of the cabin early in the morning anyway.
another 10 months and we sail. OMG can't wait.
we were on level 3 and it was fine
