We have finally narrowed down a search that has now been going on for about 2 months, after consideration we would love to go to Marsa Alam as we have read that it is an away from it all holiday and as we have been to the Maldives and loved the "I'm stuck on a desert island" experiance we thought that Marsa Alam would be pretty good !
The only problem that I have is the hotel to choose, we would like recommendations please....... the food doesnt have to be breathtaking, just hot with a bit of variety, we dont need waiter service.
The main "wants" are a nice pool for the teenager! but more important a lovely beach that you can snorkle or swim from, and if at all possible also a jetty for the deeper water.
Does anyone have any ideas please.
We had 2 weeks at the Iberotel Lamaya, Marsa Alam, in September this year and it was brilliant. My review is on the hotel reviews page. There are 2 pools that I'm sure your teenager would enjoy. One of them is the "activity" pool which is used for water polo and the animation team try to organise a game every afternoon. There's also volleyball on the beach, archery lessons, darts and table tennis tournaments and boules. The sea can't be accessed directly from the beach in front of the hotel because of the coral but a short walk along the beach to the left gives access to the sea and you can snorkel from there. There is also a jetty that you can snorkel from. The house reef is very good.
