Sorry I can't advise on Iclemeler as I haven't been there but I the weather is usually nice at the end of April, warm and sunny in the day, getting hotter as you go through May but a little chilly in the evenings so you may need a light jacket or a cardi. The sea will be rather cold as it hasn't had a chance to warm up by April. It's a nice time of year to visit Turkey though

i can tell you which 1 to avoid having stayed at the marmaris palace about 2 yrs at easter it was awful, slides were closed, only 1 restaurant was open with very limited choice of food, 2 hot choices and only turkish sickly desserts, afternoon cakes you could play cricket with :duh , rooms are very out dated and more 3*, the location is half way between marmaris and icmeler so out on its own, to transport is needed to visit either resort, the only good thing going was it has lovely scenery and a ice skate rink. my daughter also stayed here in oct and isnt as fussy as me and she also hated it, i definitely wouldnt recommend it and think you would be better off in the hotel marti as that seems to get better reviews.

april can be hit and miss with the weather , you could be lucky and have nice weather and you easily have the odd day of rain, evenings will be chilly. icmeler is a nice resort but will be very quiet in april and maybe not fully open. hope this helps , good luck with where ever choose

Hi
In april you would be better flying in to Antalya region of Turkey and choosing an hotel in the resorts of Belek, Side or Lara beach. Side being the livelier of the 3 resorts! The hotels will be more expensive but so much better quality! Prices should not be so bad though because it is not school holidays when you are looking to go! We went to the area you mention a few years ago but the first 2 weeks of april and it was not very warm even during the day! nothing was open and most bars etc were getting ready for the summer season along the stretch into marmaris! The above resorts I mention are open all year round and you would be far better off there! The hotels may be more expensive but offer so much more than those you mention! Most of the AI have branded alcoholic drinks and several al a cartes included and some are 24 hour all inclusives. The beaches are better to!

The Marti and the Letolie are both good hotels, the Marti would probably be the better hotel and Icmeler is lovely at that time of year. End of April it will be fairly quiet as this is right at the start of the holiday season. there will however still be plenty open. marmaris is only a 10 minute ride away on the dolmus and there will be even more open there

Marti Resort is a lovely hotel, I have stayed there twice and my friends 4 times and they are going back in June.
The pool area is suberb and so is the private beach.

The entertainment is not that good and we used to go out each night to bars along the canal as the drinks were cheaper. The Marti does do AI now but have not tried that as I prefer to try different restaurants and there are plenty of them in Icmeler.

I find AI in Icmeler lack atmoshere, we stayed in the Joy Munimar, could not fault the food, rooms but it was dead ay night and in April would be very quiet,

Many thanks for your replies.

We realise that it may be quiet at this time of year. We have got a good price for All Inclusive from our local airport (10 mins taxi journey).

Could you give me some more info on the Hotel Marti, whats the food like etc.

We have read that the Rooms in Block 600 are not very good. We have therefore decided to upgrade to a Superior Delux room - do you know what these are like?

thanks.

Hi Sue,

Cannot remember the number room we had but we booked the first time with First Choice and had a sea view room which we paid extra for, this room was lovely, had a large mirrored wardrobe in which was a safety deposit box, A double bed, you then went down a couple of small steps and there was a settee and a small table and the balcony came off that part. Quite spacious and the bathroom had a bath.

The next year we did not pay for an upgrade but had a similar room but that overlooked the tennis courts.

My friend went last last and she was given a room which did not suit her, so the hotel have them 3 keys and told to look at those rooms. This year she has booked the same room with fFirst Choice.

I think the de-luxe suits will be overlooking the pool areas and out to sea, if not then complain, always take a copy of the booking.

There is a wide range of food and I found it very good when we was there. As I said the alcohol was expensive but if you book HB you can have a meal and then go along the promenade afterwards, loads of bars etc., to suit all tastes.

As I said the pool area is lovely, we always sat around the smaller one as this was quiter, the large pool had the entertainment.

They did have entertainment at night but we never stayed in to watch it, could be different now they are doing AI.

I would love to go back there but the prices have jumped sky high when we like to go in June.

My other friends have got a good deal for a week at The Aqua Hotel, A week end of June for $500 each. All inclusive. This hotel is a classy hotel too. Never stayed there myself.

Good luck,

Hi Barb

Many thanks for your reply.

Another question for you or anyone else.

Did you get bothered by mosquitos while you was in Icmeler. Are they a problem, but particularly in late April? I seem to attract them, they leave my husband alone, just eat me!!!!

Thanks.

Hi Sue,

Strange enough I have never really been bothered with mossies in Icmeler but was in Olu Deniz and Kalkan.

I always spray before going out at night with Off which you can buy in Icmeler, I have never been to Turkey in Apil so not sure what the little blighters are like then. Last year in Kalkan we was bitten by olive flies, they attack the head and I felt lousy with the scratching! This year we are going week later and hope they have cleared off by then.

Another thing you should not be bothered with wasps at that time of year. We went there early September and found they could be a pest as they were dying off. Did not get bitten but a lot did!

Just make sue you spray with a good mossie spray and you should be fine,,,I get bitten more in this country than in turkey, I expect because we do protect ourselves on holiday.

If you want a good A/I go to side, belek or lara beach and you will still have to pick you hotel wisely. A/I most other parts of turkey are not in the same league but the prices are higher in the antalya area.

The hotels the OP is enquiring about are fabulous hotels in a beautiful position right on the sea front in the centre of the resort. The Marmaris palace is a bit further out. Icmeler is a far prettier resort than Side or Lara as its situated on a beautiful scenic bay, surrounded by pine covered hills and off shore are small islands with lots of boats going to and from Marmaris and Turunc.

Got to agree with Jay, Icmeler has soomething for everyoen and so much to do if you get fed up lazing round the pool or on the beach.

There also day trips to places like Akyaka and Datca which can be booked in the resort.

As I have said The Marti is a lovely hotel but we liked the HB option so we could go out at night, we also used to walk up to Black roc for a drink and this had the most beautiful views over the bay.

I am sure you would not be disappointed with Icmeler,

Many thanks for your replies and comments.

I'll have to get some repellent for the mosquitos, at least they don't carry malaria.

Anyway thanks again, I'll let you know when we book.
