Which resort?

Hi Sand, Maybe you would like Albufeira, lots of night life & restaurants with lots of entertainment for all ages, there are also quite a few discos nightclubs which you say is not your scene, but lots to choose from. You have the choice of Albufeira old town or the New town area. Vilamoura is a nice resort also but is not as bustling with night life as Albufeira. Other members of this forum may be able to help you with other resorts. Cheers jayjan

Yep, Albufeira has a choice of most kinds of entertainment. Get yourself situated in between the Strip and Old Town for the choice. That allows you to have quiet and busy nights, more or less on your doorstep. We prefer the Old Town but the Strip serves a purpose also if you want a livlier night out.

Lagos may be another option, Sagres may be able to help you with that one?

To be perfectly honest,I'm not at all sure that Lagos would fit the bill as one thing that is in short supply in the town is bars (especially bars with entertainment).
There is a lovely Jazz & Blues bar which has live music two or three times a week, but, other than this, only a handful of places have entertainment laid on.
Alvor, the neighbouring resort, however, does have a fair selection of the sort of bars you say you like.

Albufeira is good if you want all night long entertainment - more stag weekend type. Carvoeiro is good if you are looking for bars and restaurants - more couples and families. Beach in the middle of the town and lots of entertainment in the "square". Definitely worth considering providing you are not looking for discos and clubs.

This may be true of the Strip and parts of the newer town, but there's another part of Albufeira which is far more suited to couples and families and that is the Old Town. There are plenty of bars and restaurants but the atmosphere is great and the setting very attractive. Some parts are still very traditional, giving more than a hint of the old fishing village which Albufeira was before the 70's. Plenty of places to chill out after dinner while watching the twinkling lights of the sardine boats in the bay!
