We always go to Pafos - a superb resort - if you like site seeing there is lots to see re history (all within easy reach), a quaint harbour, good shopping, loads of excellent hotels, a great atmosphere. Many of the hotels are by the sea - there are few 'beaches' as such but being by the sea is wonderful and so relaxing. Am guessing that Pafos is more of a family / couples resort of you like it a bit quiter ----- but to be honest we haven't been to any of the others (we were smitten on our first trip!)

I'm sure you'll be bombarded with people suggesting different places - its a super island!

Paphos. You are close for access to the buses to get you out and about and there are the mosaics, harbour, and market you can see on foot. Also lots of places to eat and to rent a car or take excursions to the Arkamas.

Pissouri is fine but I would keep that for another time as it is a bit out on a limb. If you know you will want to get out and about pick the resort which allows you to do that easily.

Judith, you have described your requirements as exactly as mine. We are off to Paphos next Sunday and I believe it offers all that you are looking for.

We love Paphos too - lots to see in the area, and really convenient base for getting out and about. There are some lovely bars and restaurants as well. We've been to Larnaca which was pleasant enough, and Limassol which we felt was like a big city by the sea so not keen.

I'd return to Paphos on holiday with no worries, in fact going next June for a wedding, and my daughter is going for her honeymoon in 3 weks.
