If you can, go with Thompson or First Choice!

Otherwise, I havn't gone with Going places before, but have gone with Thomas Cook and had a VERY bad experience with them! (the plane was awful, they messed up our visas, they're disorganised) they could have easily ruined our holiday to Cuba! However, having gone to the DR with First Choice before, I can fully recomend them!

I am going to go into my local First Choice tomorrow to see if they will price match the quote that I got from Going Places and Thomas Cook (approx £200 difference).

It might be worth having a look through the specific thread on Thomas Cook, First Choice, Thomson etc to get a feel for the airline / travel company to help make your mind. Ultimately, it comes down to cost but if you get similar quotes, its worth knowing what each company have on offer. I would agree with dramaqueen, you'll not beat First Choice and providing Thomson deliver their promise, they should be good as well. After that it would be My Travel in 3rd spot followed by Thomas Cook for me.

Thank you for your reply. I have now received a price from First Choice and they are £250 more expensive than Going Places and Thomas Cook. I think I may give Thomson a try when they release the summer 2008 prices later this week.

Lea, have you tried Eclipse? They usually come in cheaper than First Choice.

I am hoping to book the Thomas cook flight out to Punta Cana on May 29th this year but am now a bit worried about the flight. Would have much prefered the Thomson flight as it also goes out on the 28th that we would prefer but its over £300 more expensive.

I am hoping that the new Thomas Cook service will make this an ok flight option and not worth the £300 extra to go Thomson. (Can't get first choice on the dates we want)

I have now booked with Thomas Cook as we got a really great price. I am a little worried about the flight so am thinking I might pay the extra £80 each for exit seats so we have more legroom atleast.

My holiday is not until June next year so won't be able to tell you what the new service is like before you travel.

Great, Do you mind telling me where you are going as I am always after a good price even if its for next year before I have even booked this years holiday. Did you book with Thomas cook themselves?

I have booked to stay at the Gran Ventana Resort in Playa Dorada at the beginning of June 2008 for 2wks. We were getting prices of approx £850-£900 per person with First Choice and Thomas Cook but on Airtours website it was approx £750 per person. I took a copy of the price into Thomas Cook and they dropped the price to match.

I have not been on a long haul holiday before so not sure if this is a good price but to me it is as we paid more for our holiday to Cyprus last year!
