I'm GUESSING that you've book marked a page in your favourites and used that to get to the India page? Try clicking on the link to the mani page (where it lists all the different forums) and then click on India again... Your Orange things should come back..... Don't know why it does it though.. Although also GUESSING that the main page plays with the cookies on your computer and tells the page which ones you've seen...

Glad to be of help... I used to be a programmer/tech support in my old life in Enlgand so now how to break, oops I mean fix things...

I came to Goa to get away from the stress and 9 to 5, swapped it with more stress and a 6am - 10pm job??? Last time I let family and friends talk me into starting a charity!

Anyway, how do you become a 'all powerful one' on here? A moderator? Just curious, don't want to be as I don't have the time, but would like to know...

the "all powerful ones" are the admin!
To become a mod you need to be invited. They look for members who contribute to a few forums and who have been helpful. ( obviously they have a big pool to pick from!) You have to be able to commit some time everyday to your forums. When you first become a mod you are on a 3 months trial incase it doesn't work for either your or the admin team.
To be honest, I had no idea just how much time that would involve! I had assumed that it could be done in 20 minutes! As well as the forums you often have quite a few pms to answer. Also, if I move/change a post I do try to also pm the member to let them know( this may not always happen if I have run out of time!)
Re new message markers
if people are still have problems I don't know the answer. I am going to move this to the Help and assistance forum where Mark may be able to advise!
Obviously you can still see the thread from the India forum.

I have an intermittant problem with message markers too - and it's a pain!! Out of 4 log i-n yesterday, they worked on only one occasion
!!

I bookmark through favourites to the main page, and I've ticked the box to say that I'm automatically signed in - however even logging out and back in again on the main forum "list" page, I regularly have no message markers - can tell it's going to be a problem immediately as the froum header (e.g. Egypt) is to the extreme left of the page with no little sunshines!!

Suggestions welcome

I think its a glich in the system, I sometimes get the same problem. I'll pass a link to this post to our techie team

This is STILL an on-going problem for me - I log in through a bookmark to the main page and 9 times out of 10 in the last week or so, the new messages icons do not exist either on the main page or individual forums

Press CTRL and the F5 key, this will clear your cache and force a complete reload of the page, does the same thing happen.

Settings

Change check for newer stored pages to Automatic or Every Visit
