Hi
I don't have that much knowledge of Kallithea as a resort though i know it is fairly quiet.
You're very close to Rhodes Town or Faliraki though so if there's not enough going on locally get a taxi, they're relatively cheap. A walk along the harbour or around the old town in Rhodes Town is a great way to start your evening. Rhodes Town has chilled out bars like Blue Lagoon or the bars of Orfandinou St for a livelier night.

I don't know what the entertainment is like at the hotel but there isn't much in Kalithea apart from a few shops and a couple of bars. As Marcus says Rhodes and Faliraki are both only a short taxi ride away. Plenty to do and see in both places.

A holiday's what you make it, as I've said before, there is not alot in Kalithea apart from a handful of restaurants and a few bars, but we didn't get bored, we'd be out all day and then we'd go back, get washed and changed and then had a few drinks at a bar before eating, if we stayed all the time in Kalithea, then yes, we would have been bored. We spent two days in Rhodes towns and then the rest in Falaraki, 9 euros to Falaraki and 7 euros to Rhodes. Falaraki has a lovely sandy beach but be careful as the sand gets really hot, dotted along here you have many bars and restaurants and it's not full of 18-30's anymore, it's a really pleasant place, obviously Rhodes is very busy with bars and restaurants as well. I personally wouldn't want to stay in a hotel in the evenings as we both prefer to eat out elsewhere. There's a water park in Falaraki where perhaps you could take your son, it's meant to be the best in europe, 20 euros for adults and 15 for children. Have a good time.

Hello Figgywig, just wondering what your thought of Kalithea, I know we were both a bit worried about finding enough to do there ? Hope you had a good time ?

Having returned from the wonderful Rhodes and the equally wonderful Aldemar Paradise Royal Mare, can honestly say EVERYTHING was wonderful !! Could not find anything to fault at the hotel, food plentiful, delicious and very fattening, spotlessly clean, great pools, sand/sea was a bit dodgy what with the temperature of the sand and the rocks in the sea, but soon found this could be easily overcome by getting some beach shoes.

As for Kalithea itself, well a bit quiet, Georges Bar accross the road was a god send as there wasn't much else to do in the immediate vacinity, but a quick taxi ride into Rhodes Town was an easy answer.

We didn't get to see as much of the island as might have liked, but went to Kalithea Spa, into Faliraki (daytime only!, found the beach / sea more spaciousl there as I guess everybody was sleeping off the excesses from the night before), and Lindos, which we thought was marvellous even if very hot.

Could well be going back one day !!
