Hello,
I was wonderinjg has anybody else heard of work going on at the Quality Inn International in Orlando? I have been looking at hotels to stay in next year in Orlando & at the bottom of a page on the one website it said that the hotel will be demolishing one of the buildings or something & reception wouldnt be able to be accessed so im guesisng it would be set up somewhere else? It said work to be carried out from october this year untill february next year, we dont want to travel in this time but it may change or run over scedule.... Has anybody else heard anything?
There's nothing that I can see showing on their website.
Yeah i couldnt see anything on their website, it was on a hotel companys one with the notes under booking. I will email then & see if i get a reply, thanks
I would avoid the quality inn international. I stayed in October 08 and it was terrible. It was like some roadside motel you see in a horror film when the victims are trying to escape the murderer!
We stayed there many years ago (about 10) and it was fine for what we needed ie somewhere clean to sleep after being out all day. It was handy for restaurants etc. Our friends were staying in one of the Disney hotels but we preffered our location as we had more on our doorstep.
I must admit the location is spot on. 5 mins drive from Universal and easy to get to everything in the car.
New to the America/Canada forum having moved over from many years with the HT Costa Del Sol forum . This is because after lots of thought, consideration and persuading the husband, we have decided to make our first family trip to Orlando.
I have just booked the Quality Inn International following lots of weeks of looking at hotels! I have read hundreds of the reviews and a lot of the newer ones have said that renovations started Oct 09 and will finish March 10 but it wasnt interfering with their stay, so its strange that its not started yet. There have been some negative reviews but in the whole most people have said its clean, basic but overall great and the location is excellent! Dont expect to be in the room much so thought it would be better to use my hard earned cash on spending money!
So excited about it (prob more than my 3 children - 12, 9 and 44!!!!). Cant wait for September !
I did try emailing the hotel a few weeks ago but didnt get a reply. Feeling quite smug cos the holiday i booked a week ago has went up 300 pound so far.
Will be posting lots of questions in the next few months
Sorry If I've worried you at all. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with it, well, I say that, it was really old, tatty and in need of refurbishment. May be it has been done hence this topic. Also, my surname is Williamson - how ironic!
You have a bit lol but I'll wait and see when we get there - already bit worried about being holed up in the one room but hoping that the kids are so tired after being out all day they will crash out as soon as their head hits pillow
They probably will. We were out from 7.30am to get breakfast at the local Ponderosa (the pancakes were ace!) and didn't usually get back until about 10pm so straight to bed it was. It's hard work this theme park stuff!
The TV of course helped us with him as of course they have loads of channels over there which helped keep him occupied whilst we got sorted. We used to go to is it the Ponderosa? chain for the 'all you can eat' breakfasts which were brilliant. You weren't hungry for ages afterwards. Our son loved it as there was free ice cream and sprinkles on tap as well
There were coin machine's for drinks and free ice on the floors as well (if they are still there ). As I say it was a long time ago that we were there & we were fine
If you look at Tripadvisor there is a review from 1/26 that says the renovations have been done. She gives it a good review, although she mentions that the room is not heated, I think that is a typo for the pool...
Oh thanks for that - been a bit worried about it - lets hear from anyone else if they go there in the next few months lol
We stayed here in may last year & we found it fine, location was really good & again we went to ponderosa for breakfast!! lol. The ice machines & drinks are still there, although we didnt realise this untill near our last day, nevermind!! If we were going back this year i would possibly stay here again i was just a little worried about the work going on, i did email the hotel & had a reply pretty much straight away saying it should be completed by march this year!!
rooms are fine, they have a fridge, microwave etc very handy & of course the air conditioning!! very nice!! Also just to add you get people which arent happy with every place, you cant please everyone!! Staff we met were friendly & helpfull, overall i think its a good base for your Orlando holiday!! You will have a fab time!!
I visited just before Christmas. Most of the rooms have now been refurbished, and look very nice too! A few still left to do. Very little disturbance to guests as they take a block of rooms out to refurb and these are not used to accommodate guests. All you might see are the furnishings being delivered and installed and some workmen painting and hanging wallcoverings.
