Is anyone aware of the recent reports in the press about women being attacked in lagana?appartently there has been 7 up to now.
I am worried because we are doing a thomson square deal in october, and may end up in lagana , and having a teenage daughter i am concerned about these reports. I have voiced my concern to the travel agent and they asked thomsons ,whom appartently said they have security over their and have not heard anything about these attacks.
can anyone shed any light on this?
Hopefully, by the time you go out to Laganas, most of the riff raff/lager louts, will be back in this country. During the day, I wouldn't have thought there would be anything to worry about. But may be worth while keeping your young ones in check in the evenings. I sincerely hope for your sake that Laganas will be somewhat quieter by then. We too have been watching the bad publicity this resort has been receiving in the National Press of late. Sincerely hope you have a safe but happy holiday and that you enjoy Zante, just as we did back in May.
To be honest i've known girls that have been attacked but if your daughter has got her wits about her she'll have no problems at all. I'm not blaming the girls (it is a terrible thing to happen) but many do relax too much on holiday. If a stranger offers to buy you drinks, take you out, give you a lift in the UK you wouldn't do it - stick to the same rules on holiday.
It's also worth noting that even with allocation on arrival tour operators do try and place families in family resorts, singles in lively resorts, etc. It can't always be done but when the availability is there you'll be allocated a suitable resort.
As we are going as a family i do hope they will put us in argassi or kalamaki. I asked the travel agent to request this with the T/O but they said they would not because we have booked a AOA.
If we do end up in laganas, I shall keep an extra motherly eye out for my daugther and hopefully enjoy the holiday!!!
Of course Thomsons know about the problems in Laganas but don't want to acknowledge the fact, in case it scares of their customers. Tsilivi is probably the most suitable place for families, though where we were in Alykanas, this was also okay for you. IF, you do get Laganas and are not happy with your surroundings then demand your Rep get you moved. Irrespective of their policy on AOA. If they don't want the bad publicity, then they will accommodate you. This website is a wonderful place for warning others of pitfalls with holidays. Just make sure you post a report on your return. Once again, you and your family, have a great time. We will be in Turkey at about the same time. Take care folks.
I am keeping an eye on the press for reports on laganas, and if their are anymore bad ones i will ring thomsons up personally. I am disappointed in tui this time as we always holiday with them, but loyalty to their customers is obviously low on their list of customer care.
Where are you going in turkey? I wish we had booked for there now its a wonderful country!
