Hello All,
I am new to the forums so hi!
Well I have been dying to go on a long break for awhile now and decided on EGYPT, TABA.
I am not very geographically sound and I wanted the following from my holiday:
Beach holiday
activities: snorkelling, mild water sports
good, unspoilt scenery, don't mind walking etc
Activities - anything - as long as it's not drinking!
nice local community
no 'British' only areas
Night life - very mild
Most important: No wild night life!! (e.g.18-30 hols)
I finally decided on Taba, only for my friend to tell me that her Sis and husband think it may be a dead boring place to go to!!!!! And that the most it'll be is a beach and drinking loads!!!
I have heard there are quad bike rides, camel rides, desert jeep tours and snorkelling tours in these types of holidays - is this true?? I don't mind these things!!
Me & my best freind will be staying at the Radisson SAS Resort for 7 nights and I'm just worried that this may be a dud holiday for £500!
Please let me know the good & bad news!
Thanks!
But don t worry too much.... your hotel is large and spacious, you will be able to find your own space and peace of mind, go for long walks and still go out on the various excursions.
Just remember.... next time Nuweiba.
We did the quad biking ( 2 hour trip) book it on the beach hut and not via rep as it is same trip but cheaper. If we had been there longer we probably would have gone again (maybe on the 4 hour trip).
There are plenty of trips. If you want to go to Petra make sure you book before 12 noon on the day before the trip due to a list of visitors having to be submitted.
We also went on a trip to Saint Catherine's Monastary (where Moses saw the burning bush) and shopping in Nuweiba.
The snorkelling from the beach is ok, but got a bit boring after a few days, but the dive centre run snorkelling trips. I think there is also a watersports centre in Taba heights.
They also run overnight trips to Cairo.
The bar was relaxed, but mainly couples and certainly not 18 - 30.
I think the main problem is that off the resort complex there is not really anything to do, there is not really a local town that you can pop to for a look around, and you will need a driver to get through the roadblocks.
There is a travel company in reception that will arrange a driver for you for the day to take you wherever you want.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any specific questions
Jules
