The problem with Taba is that it just a tiny little hamlet on the border with Israel, with about a dozen large, international resorts stretching along the coast for about 30 km. Definitely Nuweiba would have been a better choice as it is so much more central to all the excursions, has beautiful sandy beaches with excellent snorkelling, vast open, peaceful spaces ideal for walking and exploring, and has the little communities of Maizena, Nuweiba Port, Nuweiba Town and Tarabeen all within a short walk or bike ride.

But don t worry too much.... your hotel is large and spacious, you will be able to find your own space and peace of mind, go for long walks and still go out on the various excursions.

Just remember.... next time Nuweiba.

We went last August and had a great time (only for a week though)

We did the quad biking ( 2 hour trip) book it on the beach hut and not via rep as it is same trip but cheaper. If we had been there longer we probably would have gone again (maybe on the 4 hour trip).

There are plenty of trips. If you want to go to Petra make sure you book before 12 noon on the day before the trip due to a list of visitors having to be submitted.

We also went on a trip to Saint Catherine's Monastary (where Moses saw the burning bush) and shopping in Nuweiba.

The snorkelling from the beach is ok, but got a bit boring after a few days, but the dive centre run snorkelling trips. I think there is also a watersports centre in Taba heights.

They also run overnight trips to Cairo.

The bar was relaxed, but mainly couples and certainly not 18 - 30.

I think the main problem is that off the resort complex there is not really anything to do, there is not really a local town that you can pop to for a look around, and you will need a driver to get through the roadblocks.

There is a travel company in reception that will arrange a driver for you for the day to take you wherever you want.
