Hi all
after hours of searching we finally found a great looking holiday , in olu deniz , turkey , on http://www.yourholidays.com/default.asp" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="break-word">http://http://www.yourholidays.com/default.asp
£658 Mavruka hotel , 2 adults , half board , 12/09 7 nights
The problem is , when you click to pay on line it says "sorry this function has been disabled , please call to book this holiday"
So , we called the 0800 number and after 5 minutes of ringing this bloke answers , he sounds like he`s been asleep , and more worryingly it sound slike he only just remebered what company he was when he answered , i asked him about the holiday , and something just didnt feel right , he said he would call me back regaridng transfers etc
So he calls me back and say ok i can have trnasfers IN the price and if i pay there and then on the phone he wont charge me the 2% fee for using a credit card ?!?
He then says give me a call on this number if you decide to take the holiday 0870 3290353
How coem its gone from a 0800 number to a 0870 ? , i just wanted you guys take no it because ive got visions of paying this fella £658 and NOTHING happening and never hearing anything again !
Would i be foolish to book this holiday over the phone with this guy , Ross ?
Any advice would be MUCH APPRECIATED !
Cheers
Dan
First impressions count.
Hi Dannyj, I would personally be inclined to drop this one like a hot potato, as uk vette has said it sounds suspicious. I am sure that you would get a better deal through an ABTA protected Tour Operator on a late deal. We are off to Kalkan on Sept 20th and with car parking we are paying just over £500 for two weeks Bed & Breakfast and this was Booked back in January.
It does sound a bit dodgie and if you pay by switch over the phone there isnt a booking fee anyway. If you are looking for a last minute deal try this site its a great discount holiday web site it's icelolly i booked my holiday back in may for 3 adults B&B for a fortnight & it came to £600.00. Good luck on your search.
this web site wont let me post the proper address as i have only been with them for a couple of days understandably i could be a real weirdo ha ha
Emma (8 more sleeps to go whoopee!)
Danny ,this one sounds a bit iffy to me,plenty of other deals , from operators which have been tried and tested .
Or you can pay it via your Credit card if the holiday doesent happen you claim it back from CC.
My motto is, What you wouldnt do at home dont do abroad, it is not worth it, take the good advice given run a mile !!!
tread carefully, can't you speak to someone at ABTA? or get advice from citizens advice?
good luck

its a scam. Basically the website is up for a day or two, giving you cheap deals (not just holidays). Then they give you a number to ring, in which case can scam you a pound a minute or more if they wish, take your credit card details and take out that given amount or more if they wish. I just so happened to watch the real hustle last night and that is what they did, but it was on electrical goods.
Checked this number against "Say no to 0870"
The website was first registered in 1999 so it was not created a couple of days ago.

Great work mods, Hays travel is a proven company.
If there is a deviation from the brief of what is to be dealt with then they will refer you on to other numbers.
These are self employed travel agents.
Most likely works for Hays travel, they have a lot of homeworkers.
they are abta registered...... so cant be that bad
Hays travel appear on the teletext pages on the tv, so they obviously aren't as fly by night as it first appeared.
I always book my holidays with hays travel... they do a promotion with the schools in sunderland called every school day counts... you get the school to confirm your child goes there and you get 10% of your holiday if you are travelling in school holidays and not taking your child out of school...
http://www.holidayco.co.uk will probably offer similar costings and are reliable (Dawson and Sanderson).
I know that Hays Travel do have homeworkers so he could well be one of those and (giving him the benefit of the doubt) he could have had a night on the 'pop' which could explain this 'fogginess' however you are clearly uncomfortable with the situation otherwise you wouldn't have asked the question. You asked for advice, mine is "Go with your gut instinct".
FYI - I have booked a holiday myself with Hays Travel (the shop) and my parents have booked twice with a homeworker who works for Travelcare without any problems.
