On the Thomson Website Helen you can book Christmas 2010 now, so my guess is the brochures will be in store - where are you thinking of going if you don't mind me asking?
no idea at all Miss Pink. It'll have to be somewhere warm, and whether we go or not will definitely depend on the prices. I'm not one of these that can go away and forget about Xmas at home. I'd have to do the big roast & get the family round before we went, and of course everyone would get their usual pressies. A holiday would be a lot of extra expense for us, as we usually only spend around £100 each on each other, & I can't see me getting anything for that price
I have always fancied going away at Christmas but whilst son is sttill living with me - can't really - he hates the thought of xmas away from home. When he leaves home (not too long maybe ) then I can think again.
I could give you a link to the online brochures. Short or long haul once you have decided.
Angie.
Thanks Angie. It's just a tentative enquiry at the moment, as I probably wouldn't book until next summer anyway. At this moment in time, there are a lot of personal issues which would influence my decision, whether to go or not. In the mean time I will price up holidays & perhaps that'll be the end of the quest Thanks for your offer of help.

Same here Miss Pink. Whilst the eldest will be fine as he'd spend Xmas day at his gf's, I couldn't contemplate leaving the other one to fend for himself on xmas day. I've eaten and cooked every Xmas dinner at home since we've been married -28 yrs
I might have a change next year, as eldest will have moved out (doesn't like going out to Christmas dinner) and I think youngest would probably join us out for dinner somewhere. Once I get rid of him (in the year dot..lol) we'll probably have at least one Christmas abroad
We spent one year on holiday over the xmas period and I would never do it again.
Debbie - can you elaborate and tell me why please?
We've been away for Christmas a few times when our son was younger and we loved it. Wish we could do it every year but our son is still living at home and flatly refuses to go away with 'the parents' and I couldn't live with myself if I left him at home alone for Christmas. Guess we'll just have to wait until he moves out. The rate he's going I'll be to old to bother by then

Helen it just did not feel the same at all Even the children whom were 7 and 8 said they did not enjoy it being away from home and all the usual festivities
I guess its each to there own in the end, but I just know its not for me. Now New Year thats a different story all together We went to the Gran Canaria the year after for New year and that was fantastic

Can't see son moving out just yet Shirley - not that I am pushing him out of course, whilst i am on gold earth he will always have a home, but it would still be nice not to have to feel guilty about 'me' . After all he does have plenty of holidays with mates etc - Oh well just have to wait a bit longer xxxx
Oh how i wish....... i would love to go to the sun for xmas or maybe new year . Like others i have children still at home and know that they wouldn't come away , and i wouldn't like the thought of them not having a proper xmas lunch or being alone . The time is not really right at the moment as i might have my first grandchild this time next year , as my son and his partner are having IVF treatment and eggs are being implanted mid December . and by the following year my other children might have moved out or decide to come with us .
Llindy - You seem to be similar to me in that the time never seems to be quite right. I always seem to come up with a reason to stay at home. This year would probably have suited us just fine, but we'd already booked a holiday for next Easter & summer before I thought of it. I couldn't justify the extra expense.
Hopefully next Christmas will be our first time abroad during the festive period, thinking of going to Mexico or maybe even Cuba again. My sister's daughter doesn't want to go as she feels it isn't right being away during Christmas but I personally can't wait to get away as I'm not really that keen on Xmas especially now my boys are teenagers.
For those of you that do or have gone, what is the best way to stay over the festive period ie. SC /HB/AI If you could tell me why it is your preference as well it would help. Thanks in advance.
The thing is it depends if you want the festive party atmosphere, which I do, so a hotel with HB/FB or AI would be my choice. I wouldn't book SC at that time of year unless we were with family or friends and made our own entertainment.
Spending Xmas day at home is lovely knowing the next day I am flying to Spain.
thanks Caz - I did think perhaps SC would be a no no at this time of year. Angie I wouldn't mind the link when you get a chance. I've had a quick shifty at the Thomsons long haul, but can't find short haul at the moment. Whether we could do long haul would all depend on the flight dates, as we would have 15 days to play with. I need to know rough prices really, so I'll more or less know now whether we'll be able to afford to go. Money wise I don't suppose things are going to get any better between now & then.
I would love to go away for Christmas - preferably somewhere where they don't make a fuss over it! I HATE Christmas with a vengeance - always have done, even as a kid, so to go somewhere without all that commercialised nonsense would be bliss!
