After a very disappointing and quite Xmas Hubby and I have decided to go away for Xmas and New Year next year
We've never been away at this time of year before and don't have a clue as to which resorts cater for either celebration.
We were thinking of either Benidorm or PDLA but are open to suggestions....would prefer somewhere warm if possible
Any ideas or advice gratefully appreciated
Hi! My husband & I have been to Benidorm for New Year for the past 7 years and also had a couple of Christmas's there, too. This year we couldn't go as my husband has been off work sick since October and I have been out of work, too and so we couldn't afford it. I cannot tell you how much we have missed it! It has usually been warm - sun bathing Christmas Day warm - and we love our New Year in the Triangle watching the fierce fireworks. The atmosphere is brilliant and there is always something to do and places to visit. Maybe next year we will see you there?
Hi Tangobunny, if you haven't already set your mind on abroad, may I suggest something quite close to home. We spent New Year in the Village Hotel Cardiff and loved it there. We had 2 nights B&B with 5 course gala dinner and live band on New year's Eve. I've not long posted a review but can't provide a link for you as it hasn't been approved yet. let me know if you're interested or want more info. Although we had a fab time, I suppose it doesn't live up to being abroad in the sunshine though
Edinburgh is the place to be. If we are not there for New Year 2012 it will be becuase we are in Christchurch.
I'm assuming you mean Christchurch, New Zealand and not the place it was named for, Christchurch, Dorset.
the last three years we have spent in lanzarote.unfortunately thius year we couldnt make it family reasons,we have really missed it and found it very quite at home as our kids are grown up now all the exitement seems to have gone. we will definately be going back to lanzarote next christmas and new year. so much nicer celebrating in the sun

Spot on
I have spent the last couple of days looking for flights out but most airlines have not announced thier schedule yet. We are looking to leave UK on about 27th Dec. I am not sure I have ever set foot in Dorset!
I wonder if the current BA sale might be worth checking for cheaper flights IF your return date clears before their sale ends on 25 Jan ........ and the sale might give a reasonable price for Premium Economy -World Traveller Plus - if your OH needs the legroom on a long haul.
Val, I think that there's some rule about 355 days advance booking only for most airlines,
yep, the schedules are not out until the end of the month so we cant book owt until then. I am going to use the time inbetween now and then to research thoroughly what it is we want..
Thanks for all your replies....I don't really want to holiday in this country I'd like to be somewhere warmer....No firm country in mind...may even consider a cruise if we like the one we are going on in July......I've been told Egypt is quite nice for Xmas but as I say I'm open to suggestions
I would choose Egypt for warmth at that time of year, although I have done Christmas and New Year in PDLA and Lanzarote and loved it in both locations! Lanzarote was quite windy (we were in Playa De Los Pocillos) and a bit chilly at night. Wherever you choose, make sure you get a heated swimming pool - it's a must at that time of year in the Canaries or Egypt, even though the days are warm.
We've done New Year in La Palma and Gran Canaria - any of the Canary Islands should be a good bet for the festive season!
Thanks for your replies...Canaries are looking like a good bet
If you are considering The Canary Islands at Christmas, Tenerife is going to be the busiest and probably warmer than Lanzarote.
