Thought it might be an idea to post the snow situation (or not), as we all live different parts of the country (and beyond) and might be helpful for those travelling, and hopefully will stay safe.
I am in Kent and at the moment snow free
I'm in the North East, no snow here but plenty of frost......brrrr x
Frost and and fog also.
Devon, no snow, good white frost, sunny
We're planning a visit to Skipton tomorrow....we'll see.....

Today, it's still here and it's packed ice.(photos taken this morning).
The main roads are OK, the side roads tricky, and the pavements a death trap.
I've not seen one gritter out and everyone got their bins out yesterday, but they never came....they've managed it this afternoon.
It's not shifting from my back garden.
Pavements ....

No snow here..... this was on Sunday 28 December 2014 down at Curium Beach
Oh wow. Is that temp unusual for Cyprus, as I didn't think it was that warm there at this time of year?
Snow gone here now temp is 12 deg.
Oh wow. Is that temp unusual for Cyprus, as I didn't think it was that warm there at this time of year?
The weather has been very unusual this year in Cyprus, Glynis. We had a very early start to the summer and I was in the sea in the early part of April but when my friend came over Easter, it had cooled a little and then didn't really pick up enough for my getting in the pool until later. We had our holiday for a week in Malta on 3rd October and normally, I would still expect to go in the sea or the pool until the end of October / early November but it really wasn't that warm after we returned from Malta. So summer finished quite early - although we were still having good temperatures in the daytime it was cooling more considerably overnight and the pool/sea temperatures weren't constant enough.
We headed off to Blackpool for a week mid November and when we came back, Cyprus had a cold spell - again, most unusual (based on the 11 years we've been here) as temperatures are generally anywhere between 18C to 24C at that time.
December temperatures have been slightly cooler than November with a max of 22C on some days. But so far, we've had some quite balmy days.... You have to remember though, the sun starts to drop after about 2:30pm and it's dark by 5pm so the heat of the day is short lived and it's actually warmer outside of the house than inside at this time of year. We currently have the calor gas heater on as I'm writing this. We had really heavy rain last night and some early this morning, but it's clearing now and the sun is trying to peep through...
Yesterday, it was very weird - cooler but around 19C or 20C with a strong breeze and very hazy skies. The sea was a silvery grey as there was no blue in the sky to reflect upon it. See these photos below:
I had to wedge myself against the double cab to be able to keep as steady as possible to take them!
I remember my parents visiting Cyprus one February and were out and about in their short sleeves, and the locals, apparently were still wrapped up, far too cold for them, but great weather for my parents
Interesting you using Calor gas heating, is that usual? Is it cheaper than say a hologen heater? My gran had a Calor gas heater in her downstairs bathroom years ago.
Happy New Year to you all in Cyprus
Halogen only warms what's immediately in front of it and in a living room the size of ours, it's like spitting in the wind - it wouldn't even melt a chocolate fireguard.
Plus you have to remember that Cyprus has the most expensive electricity costs in Europe with Malta coming in second place
I did wonder about the cost of electricity in Cyprus.
Still no sign of snow down south but it is pretty cold, so some nice frosty mornings provided you don't have to leave the house !
This from the ski webcam up there.... I'm staying away until February or March when there's more chance of blue skies and not so much rain and mist.
Looks lovely Shell
You definitely have better scenery where you are, than where I am Cyprus
We've gone from one extreme to another - but there's some fab snow up on the mountains and meanwhile, Limassol and lots of other places are flooded. Drainage in the cities is very poor here and it doesn't take much to cause the drains to overflow but we've had a deluge of rain for most of yesterday and last night with gale force winds (rated 8 to 9 on the Beaufort scale) pushing it everywhere. On top of that, it's gone bitterly cold and our bedroom about an hour ago was showing a temperature of 14C - we've got 23C in the living room with 2 kerosene heaters on the go.
Think I'm sleeping in here tonight!
