The hotel was lovely really clean, the hotel food was average there wasn't many alternatives although breakfast was good.
The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful although there was one part of the team which let them down which was the pool attendants they were very rude and abrubt.
The entertainment was ok there wasnt much effort to entertain the younger adult it was either for the kids/familys or middleage.
We are planning to go back this yer cos overall the resort, hotel and location were great.

The Riviera Beach hotel is part of the Riviera Beach Holiday Club Resort literally next to Golden Sands. The hotel is excellent with large rooms - all of which have a sea view - excellent food quality and lots of choice, and 4 pools (2 large outdoor freshwater, 1 kiddies pool and 1 indoor), all right on the beach front. You can use the other hotels' facilities also - the Oasis, Lotos, Imperial and Nympha all 3, 4 & 5*.
You really cannot fault the hotel at all, the beach and pool area is very clean and there is an animation team throughout the day offering sports, aerobics, darts, bowls etc. There is evening entertainment I think but we did not stick around for that as Golden Sands is only a 10-15 minute stroll along the coast.
The best way to get to Golden Sands is to walk along the beach till you get to the Imperial hotel and then walk behind the Nympha. Its much quicker than exiting at the back and walking up the hill past the other hotels.
The Riviera resort feels very exclusive as you need your card to enter, and the surroundings are beautiful- all on the sea front and next to a national park.

The hotel and pool were immaculate and set in a fantastic setting away from the main hustle and bustle of Golden Sands. It was only a 10 minute walk to the main area and we never got hassled as we were walking. The chef is fantastic, he cooks you fresh pancakes made to order which are delicious.
If you want a 'little britain' then go to Spain, but if you want the opportunity to relax, have a laugh and do a few excursions to this cultural country then this is the place for you.
Most of the staff were nice, there was just 1 receptionist who seemed to be a bit snappy, however i think this was more to do with her poor English rather than being rude. There are ALOT of Germans that go to Bulgaria, to be honest they did put a bit of a dampener on things as they were so dour faced and rude to the Bulgarians. The locals are fabulous - the friendliest people and I never met an ugly Bulgarian!!
We will go back in 2007 for another week and stay at the Riviera, I loved being able to get out of the busy streets and back to my beautiful secluded hotel. As for proving you stay there to the security guards, we never had to! They watch you go and recognise you when you come back so there was never an issue there.

The hotel was very clean bedrooms were very impresive overlooked the pool which was a realy nice pool plenty of sun beds.
Not a lot of Engish people there but lots of other nationalities. The food we found not very good always cold and not very nice at all it was about a 15 minute walk into the town the complex is quite secure with guards on gate duty so you need to prove you are staying there.
We don't think that Bulgaria was ready for the British back to good old spain next year.

A magnificent hotel....although a kilometre from the resort centre the walk was pleasant.....the food was a buffet style slightly geared towards the German visitors you would not go hungry by any means.
Very clean spacious rooms and the hotel facilities were good, an ample gym and balnothogical centre...situated on the beach, a good pool area and seperate pool for smaller children.
Staff were pleasant but quite low key and there English was not brilliant BUT you are in Bulgaria !!
The entertainment was Ok if you wanted to sit around in the evening to a singer or duet on the terrace... the daytime was play time with a good animation team mixing all nationalities.
Take a taxi outside the gates for a tour of Varna approx
