I only had onr problem with hotel Arda which was there were 3 people in the room and it was booked for 3 but they gave us 2 big beds and one tiny bed and they refused to give us a different room.

I loved Bulgaria and the hotel was alway kept clean the breakfast was not great but it was ok.

Thanks for a great stay!!!

I was disappointed with the size of the room, still I suppose you get what you pays for. On our first night there we had some buns in the room, and although the cleaners came in everyday some crumbs were still there when we left.

The lifts only 2 servicing 100 odd rooms were not very reliable, and not being very young I found the stairs a bit tiring. Again I suppose you get what you pays for.

If you want a place to put your head at night, are not scared of heights then it was OK

We arrived at about 1am and asked what time the bar closed, was told about 3am so took our bags to our room and went back to the bar. The barman spoke fairly good English and was very informative with regard to questions I asked.

When we woke up, we found that we were not very happy with our room as it overlooked the main road behind the hotel, so after attending the welcome meeting I went to reception and asked if we could change rooms.

After a consultation with the computer by the staff this did not seem to be too much of a problem and we were offered a room overlooking the pool area and the sea.

Although the view was much better, we found that the pool bar from the hotel next door was very noisy from about 8.30am with heavy base from the speakers, but other than that, was ok.

We found that the rooms were very basic, but also very clean. We are not the earliest of risers and even if we didn't go out until 1pm, when we returned to the room the beds were always made and the room tidy.

We must have been the last room to be cleaned as every time we went out we found the cleaning equipmemt outside of our door!

We were warned against the food in the hotel, but due to rain during our second week, took a chance and found it was really nice and ate there most of the second week. It was also not over busy with relaxing background music.

All in all, although basic, by the end of the first week, we felt relaxed and happy with the hotel, other than the noisy DJ from the next hotel. Our friends were staying at the Svejest Hotel about 5 mins away, and we joined them for a meal at a Chinese Restaurant on the Russian side, opposite a funfair.

Fantastic food!!! After having a pub/restaurant in the UK, I find I can be a bit picky with food. Another place where we found the food was fairly good, was the An-Mari Bar on the beach by the Europa Hotel (except for Macaroni Cheese!) No comment.

Staff everywhere were very pleasant. Try the Sunny Dreams Bar, very entertaining (the staff mostly). Will definately be going back to Bulgaria, but although the Arda Hotel was very good, we will be looking for a quieter location in regard to MORNINGS. (Can't comment on breakfast at the hotel, was never up early enough to make it!) The Market Inn British Pub (also on the Russian side) was also a good bar.

Hotel Arda, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria. Having read so much neagtivity about the budget hotels at Sunny beach, I'd like to put a few matters straight. My family have just returned from a week at the 2 star Hotel Arda, and we have no complaints at all about this, the cheapest hotel in the brochure!

All the staff were excellent. The pool cleaner, maids, reception, waiters and bar staff could not have been more friendly or helpful at all times.

Hey, guess what, breakfast is different in Bulgaria! It's a foreign country. But there is a choice of boiled eggs, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, eggy bread, sausages, toast, cereal, tomatoes, cucumber, meats, several cheeses, and even bread and jam/honey. Oh, and have as much tea, coffee, water and fruit juices as you like! The food is not as hot as it is at home, but you are not at home.

To curtail an urban myth, you do not have to carry small coins (stotinki) wherever you go, and keep a supply of toilet rolls in both pockets. Every bar and restaurant we visited had toilets. Occasionally, there is a 10p charge in smaller venues. No problem, as this goes to people who need every penny. Bulgarians earn around

2 adults and 2 teenagers spent 2 weeks in the hotel Arda. Although basic, the hotel was very clean. We had 2 rooms on 1st floor and found that noise did travel up from reception area. This didn't bother us too much, but probably isn't for young families or light sleepers.
We tended to skip breakfast as it wasn't the best, but food is so cheap in Bulgaria that it didn't matter.
The hotel backs onto a busy raod, but noise from it wasn't a problem. We were woken one night by a kareoke from a local bar, but it was so bad we had to laugh - and it was only 2 songs.
We found the staff friendly (like all the bulgarians we met) and helpful.

Hotel Arda was quite clean.

The breakfast in the hotl was absolutly disgusting.
They would leave butter out for hours and then re freeze. When you opened a butter portion it stank of vomit because it was off but when staff were notified tey did not care and did nothing about it.A lot of people including ourselves all had severe diahorea which I think was food posining and one lady got carted out in an ambulance because she had it so bad.
The hotel was extremely basic and the beds were just awful, it was just wood with a blanket for a matress. The hotel was not in one way safe for those traveling with young families. We had a young child and were put on the 6th floor which is really really high. We were totally horified to find that the veranda door had no lock and you had to baracade the door with furniture and suitcases to prevent your child going anywhere near outside and there were also large spaces on the verandas which small children could easily fit through. The lifts were also apalling and I recall the cleaning staff all crashing to the ground and having to be pulled out by guests. Also the lifts sometimes stopped above ground level and people fell out about six inches. It was very dangerous indeed.

Thre hotel didn't deal well with noisy guests and all through the night there was fights, doors being slammed loud music which never stopped glases being smashed etc.

The hotel had no entertainment at all.

This would be an okay hotel for young people but is absolutly not suitable in any way for young families.
