Now known as the Sunrise Club, although still seems to be listed as Sunrise hotel by balkan Holidays.
It was very clean: they seem to always be bustling around with mops and brooms, and the room was done every day.The pool was also cleaned daily and was in good repair.
The food, personally I found it excellent, but then food is a personal thing: when I go on holiday I want to eat something different, and it was pretty much local style food: rice, chicken, pork, local cheese, tomatoes, etc, but all nicely cooked.
The meat appeared in a variety of styles: the goulash/stroganoff was very good, as were the traditional Bulgarian soups-a lot of people were moaning about it but all they really seemed to want was sausage and chips, and didn't want to try something different. They put on a traditional Bulgarian meal one night- really good but it set some peole off moaning.
One complaint however was the bread- it was mouldy one day so had obviously been left out to long.
The location is, as others have said, on the wrong side of the main road, and a bit of a trek from the market and bars, but only 10 minutes or so, and as main roads go it's pretty quiet and easy to get over: the kerbs were being done when we were there and it seems this end of the town is being done up. The beach is only a minute away, which was good, and it was a quiet bit as well with none of the miles of rental sunbeds and parasols- you could go to the seas edge and dump your towel without being pestered.
There was no entertainment as such, but it was laid on by balkan at other hotels, but if we'd wanted entertainment we'd have gone to Pontins: the myriad beachfront permanant happy hour cocktail bars were entertainment enough! As for the staff, many of them have limited or no English, but all seemed friendly and tried hard to please, but communication was often limited to hand waving and pointing........
Would I go there again however? NO!! There is one reason: the bar starts pumping out trance dance at 10 am at a ridiculously loud volume: euro dance tracks on loop running for twenty or thirty minutes at a time: it goes on for 12 hours or more like that. It was absolutely awful, I complained and got us moved to a room further away from the bar and the volume did go down for a while but soon crept up again: it was at nightclub volume levels and it just made it impossible to just enjoy a bit of peace and quiet, and they seem to think this is what people want.... Balkan Holidays describe the place as "quiet"- it's not: if you want to snooze by the pool then don't go to Sunrise.

The hotel is bang next to a main road which it didn't tell us in the brochure.
The food was so bad we had to eat out. Also food was left uncovered on the table and had flies on it.
The swimming pool was so dirty we couldn't let the children go in it.
The hotel ran out of icecream and beer on tap and did not bother to restock. Probably the worst hotel I have ever stopped in.

I am currently on holiday in this hotel, and I am so looking forwar to returning home this Saturday.
Extremely disappointed this year, as this is the 2nd year that I have come.
Like the previous message entertainment was only on a Thursday, compared to EVERY NIGHT last year, however from this week, it is going to be Twice a week, a Thursday and a Sunday.
Food was ok, however SAME stuff night after night, however we have complained and they are trying their hardest to change if, though still the same.
Staff are friendly however find it really hard to understand english.
Even though advertised as an English only hotel, this year has had a number of foreigners staying here.
Not sure if I would come back to this hotel, however would highly recommend Sunny Beach!!!

Been here 3 times and will never return again ! The food was terrible and had Chicken Stew everynight for 2 weeks. There is not enough staff avaliable and not bothered if you got served or not.
Empty glasses left around pool all day. Entertainment is from 8pm-10.30pm on a thursday and thats it. There are 2 swings, pool table (3lv) and table tennis (5lv).
The pool has tiles chipped or missing around the edges so watch the kids getting in and out. Very busy road outside and hard to cross. Bar closes at 11pm if you are lucky.
No toliet roll ever in the pool toliets.

The hotel is pleasant, and clean. The pool could be cleaner. Hotel staff were helpful except one waiter who pestered you to go on his dodgy trips.
The food was the same every day except for the meat. The hotel is too far away from everything else, and you can only use their taxi from the hotel.
The music starts at 9am every morning, nothing but bang bang rave all day. There play area for children is non existant except for pool table and a childs swing and the pool table costs enough.
If you go to this hotel be prepared to run across the road and walk and walk before you find any bars and food outlets.

The Sunrise Club is situated only a 5 minute walk away from the main beach and shops.
I found this very good, as you are always guaranteed an excellent night sleep from the noisey bars on the beachside.
Hotel is an ideal size as sunbeds are always available, and pool never gets full of people.
Pool itself could be kept cleaner, as often found insects floating around. (This is a common problem within Bulgaria), apart from that, it was nice and relaxing as was pretty cool after the heat just to cool yourself down in it. Temperature always seems cold, however it is always around 21o, but due to air temperature it seems colder.
Hotel food was excellent and never had a problem of food running out, there was always plenty to choose from. Breakfast got boring as it was the same selection everyday, and 14 days of the same food does getting a bit boring. Evening meal always a variety and caters for most people, desserts excellent.
Food ordered during the days were good and reasonably priced.
Hotel staff were excellent, always helpful and did speak good english.
Entertainment
Karaoke EVERY night - this was excellent and they sung superb english songs.
There was also a mixture of other entertainment, ranging from Magician shows to Bulgarian Folk Shows.
I would highly recommend anyone to visit this hotel, and are already looking to book for next year.

This was our 2nd time at the Sunrise. Staff as always were fantastic. Extremely friendly and full of good advice on where to go and what to see.
The hotel is ideal if you want a peaceful family holiday. There is a small park area to keep the kids entertained without worrying over them.
Food times are a big mad rush, most of the food goes in the first sitting. Plenty of good resturants nearby at a extremely low price. Entertainment is entertaining.
Set in a quite location and only 5mins to resort. Rooms cleaned to very high standard every day.

The Sunrise Club is a lovely hotel, and my partner and I had a very pleasent time there. All the staff were very warm and friendly, and spoke good English; well better than my Bulgarian anyway.
The rooms were spacious, comfortable and always kept clean, as was indeed the entire hotel. The hotel was only small but this turned out to be an advantage especially when it came to sunbeds.
The pool was of a reasonable size and the water was kept clean, although a little too cold for my liking. The food was extremely good, always warm and plentiful with a wide variety for all tastes including vegetarians.
As the hotel was quite small and quiet there wasnt much in the way of entertainment, there was of course kareoke on the odd day and a bit of music but nothing too exciting especially not for children.
However, the beach is well within walking distance as is the centre of Sunny Beach, which is covered in shops and restauraunts and provides the much needed entertainment that the hotel lacks.
All in all our hoilday was fantastic and the Sunrise was the perfect place for a peaceful and relaxing holiday, I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in visiting Sunny Beach.
