Exceptionally noisy boat. The on board food was mainly good and accommodation adequate but for an expensive holiday the Voyages Jules Verne ("VJV") tourist and holiday information was either misleading or totally wrong at times - not what you'd expect from this company. Itinerary was out of date. We were told traveller's cheques were accepted and they were not. There were tremendous difficulties paying by credit card on the boat. Had to pay by cash. US Dollars (main tourist currency) often refused unless the note was absolutely pristine.
Currency exchange rates in Burma, in hotels and on the boat, were an absolute ripoff. Check all the holiday details before you travel as VJV information was often inaccurate and they are not very good at admitting they are wrong.

Travel operator: Voyages Jules Verne
Hotel tip: Local alcoholic beers and spirits were included in the cost of the holiday on the boat but even what we would class as cheap wines were excessively expensive, on board and in the hotels. A £4 bottle of plonk in our country could set you back $20 to $40 US dollars in Burma.
