Had a great time in Aruba! I personally would recommend picking a hotel by the high rise section(Palm Beach area)There are plenty of great places to eat at and bars either on the beach or in the malls across the street from The High rise hotels.
Make sure to use sun block often. you may not feel it due to the pleasant trade winds, but the sun is very hot. By the way its cheaper to book holiday during there off season. If you go during the high season it will be more expensive and probably more crowded. Enjoy!

Hotel tip: I would try the high rise hotels by the palm beach area. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in that area.

The hotel is the oldest hotel in the resort and so does look dated to the big hotels along side it.
But look beyond this and you will find a real friendly welcoming hotel.
The rooms are not fancy but they have everything you need and are spotless.
This hotel is a 3 star and so the food you may think my suffer but I never had a bad meal and at times was spoilt for choice, although on some nights there was limited choice but never limited quantity.
And when you see the prices of eating out in Aruba you really will think this place is a good choice for your meals.
Location,, well in a word fantastic right on one of the best beaches i have ever seen and very near all the shops and the like.
The entertainment was to be honest I think quite poor although I was not expecting any , so some nights in killed an hour from 9 to 10 at night around the pool.
Staff at the hotel are in general a very nice bunch although they do seem under pressure at times.
Pool bar area is ok but can get very busy at lunch time, but the food on offer here is of a good standard for snack bar food.
I would use this hotel again and save a lot of money by not going to one of the big hotels next door and gaining very little for the extra.

Not the best hotel on the island but clean and looked after, room a bit damp to begin with but that was due to aircon and humid weather, once we aired it out it was OK. Staff perfect and curteous, nothing too much small for them to do and very polite, entertainment a little twee but we never went to be playing bingo or doing aquarobics! Girlfriend got served at bars quicker than me but hey she has her uses!!! Location getting better with new buildings going up opposite, will be a resort on its own soon. All good stuff.Great weather and only a little rain. Try the Le Dome restaraunt or LG Smiths in town, both should have Michelin stars .......

After reading several poor reviews on the Aruba Forum we went with some trepidation, although the hotel is obviously not one of the newer ones the staff work hard to keep it clean, the rooms were adequate with good bathroom facilities, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff who were always polite and a pleasure to deal with.
The food was average, the breakfasts were a major plus, lunch could either be in the restaurant or at the Sea Breeze Bar/Grill evenings were catered for on the beach (not to my taste) or you could make a booking at the a-la-carte restaurant (The Miramar) if you got up early enough! However the seabreeze opened its restaurant in the evenings during our second week and this was very good.
