We had a lovely holiday at silver sands. The selfcatering apartment was spacious with plenty of storage. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom although needs updating was very clean and towels replaced daily.Meals in the reastaurant were good and there was a good choice on the menu at a reasonable price. The mini market stocked all the essentials. The pool area was clean and so was the pool but there were many broken sunbeds that need replacing. With direct access to the beach that was a bonus. We were asked a few times on the beach by the locals if we would like some wacky baccy but by saying no we were not bothered by them again.Security men patrol the area and there didnt seem to be any problems. The rep didnt turn up to the welcome meeting so the Virgin rep answered any questions we had and we booked our trips through the hotel. The island safari trip is a must with great scenery to see and plenty off stops to have drink and take in the views. We had a great time and as a cheaper priced hotel it was good value and we have booked again for Feb 2010.

Despite several reports to the contrary we found this hotel to be very, very good! We arrived and were dealt with in a friendly and efficient manner by the reception staff.
All of the bar staff, cleaners, gardeners and security staff were friendly and helpful, I think if you smile and are friendly you will get the same response back. Our room was a deluxe beachfront studio with a fantastic view of the beach.
The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels when required, it had a TV with good programmes, fridge, hob, microwave and telephone and in-room safe. All the cooking utensils were also provided and we had bread, tea, coffee, sugar and milk provided in the room.
Food during the morning and lunch was very good the evening was quite good but you could eat at many better restaurants on the island. We were never bothered on the beach and felt safe due to the 24 hour security provided. Would definitely visit again.

Silver Sands hotel in Christ Church was paradise, what you see in the brochure is what you get.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel was very well kept and very clean as were the grounds.
The beach was right on the doorstep and was lovely.
Although this hotel was out of the way it suited our needs perfectly. The food was exceptional offering typical bajan food as well as English food with a touch of bajan spices.

Anybody thinking of getting married in Barbados, do it!! Airtours took care of our wedding and we stayed here. It was fantastic, if you want a very friendly hotel out of the way with no disturbances this place is for you. Get a cab outside (Victor) is always there willing to take you at a very reasonable price and is full of local knowledge.

The room is immaculate the maids are in at least once a day and are always around should you need anything which they will be happy to help.
The food was amazing try the flying fish!! only complaint partner is a fussy eater and the menu was a bit limited for her if you dont fancy trying the local food youve got burgers and chips (which were lovely!). You eat mostly in the bar however the restauraunt serves a buffet couple of days and the prices are reasonable for Barbados.
The hotel is a bit out of the way which is ideal for relaxing its about $20 US to the gap in a taxi (aggree before getting in) the houses around the hotel look a bit dodgey so we didn't walk about at night but you are well enclosed and the security guards have good presence.
Staff are very friendly and make the holiday a bit more personal and they all couldnt be more helpful and seem to care that you enjoy your holiday. When we left they all noticed you were leaving and made a point of wishing you a safe journey which i thought was a nice touch.
Local entertainment on a few nights a week bands and kareoke things like that and a managers cocktail party (free rum!!) with local stalls every week.

I went to Barbados for my 21st birthday along with my mum, auntie, cousin and about 50 or so other people.
We all went as part of a cricket tour from Northern Ireland. The group go every 2 years around the same time.
From the moment I stepped off the plane I knew it was going to be a great holiday but that was nothing compared to how I felt when I got to the hotel. We stepped into the reception at the front of the hotel and you could see straight out to the sea I can only describe it as heaven.
The hotel has two swimming pools one is only waist deep for playing volley ball and the other is normal size for swimming in.There are also two jacuzzi's set into the decking which looks out over the hotels own private beach
(the sun rise & sun set have to be seen to be believed).
The hotel rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were great and always ready to help. We had a hotel room which was great because we were looking straight out over the pools and beach. Perfect view from the second floor.
The location was good about 10 mins from the Gap and 15mins to Bridgetown, and taxi's are very cheap just make sure you agree a price before you set off or you could go on the local rasta bus which was an experience in it self it will drop you at the top of the road from the hotel.
There was entertainment about 4 nights of the week which was good because you could go out on the other nights if you dont feel like staying in the hotel.
They have fire eaters and dancers and a great singer by the name of Anderson Ward (we bought his cd).
The poolside bar has happy hour every evening. While we were staying at the hotel for the two weeks we re-named it Rush Hour.
The restaurant was fabulous the breakfast was very good it was $25 dollars when I was there and you could eat all you like they do a hot breakfast ie.bacon, eggs etc or a continental ie.toast, cereal, fruit etc. Very good value I would recommend it.
The beach was a little bit rough so you have to be careful. This would be our only complaint.
