Location
We have been to many hotels around the world and this is the worst we have ever set foot in.
We were pulled from the que on arival and told that the hotel had provided a Honeymoon Package for us and then asked us to show them our wedding certificate, when I told them we did not have it we were told to get back in the que and we do not qualify,
The hotel was very dirty and unsafe the tiles were missing in the pool, There was water running thriugh the roof of our room, and there was a very dirty and smellf green pool of water in the reception and restaraunt,
The Fod was cold and poor quality.
The staff were rude and did not want to help anyone unless a tip was involved,
We moved hotels after the second day of our holiday, The Island of Cayo Coco and Cuba or one of the best ,places to visit but
Avoid this hotel like the Plage and if you have booked it change it before you go, It realy is that bad.
I would never set foot in this place again.

You never got hot chips. The rooms are cleaned every day. Towels changed every day, free air con, free safe in room. the staff were wonderful, polite, and always cheerful.
The entertainment is great during the day even though I did tear my hamstring on the second week. I would recommend taking your own music as it is very rare to hear a lot of english songs.

Although the staff were more than friendly and would bend over backwards to help you, it was the food and entertainment that let the hotel down.
The restaurants that you had to pre book were of an ok standard ( nothing to boast about) the buffet was terrible. The nights that we had not booked into a restaurant we more or less starved as we just couldn't face the flee bitten food that awaited in the buffet. No effort was put into presentation to even try and temp you, the flys that buzzed around the food even started to turn their noses up.
We got to talking to people around the pool etc... where we found that everybody had the same views.
As for the entertainment it was the same thing every night and it got quite boring needless to say that we were gratefull for the tv in the room. There was no adult entertainment apart from the la vida loca disco that was full of kids.

The hotel has many good qualities, large spacious rooms, fantastic staff, especially William our waiter who was probably the most conscientous and helpful waiter we have ever encountered. He was a del boy wannabee, Cushty and Proper Job were his most used replies.
The hotel is very big and well presented, the gardeners would stop to ask if you wanted a fresh coconut or just to say hello.
The rooms were tired but servicable and cleaned to a high standard.
The pools are great, one large lagoon one being for the kids and noise people, the other quiet and relaxing, both had bars one swim up.
The beach is beautiful and clean and never overcrowded. Two of the restaurant/bars can be accessed from the beach.
Then I get to the down side!
The entertainment is very loud and rubbish. There is absolutely nowhere to go to sit and have a quiet drink and chat away from the noise, it can be heard even in the lobby where we found we were shouting at each other to be heard.
The disco is crawling with very drunk and underage kids. The bars constantly ran out of glasses. During the day you don't mind plastic cups which are given at kids parties, I don't however want a glass of wine or a cocktail served in one of an evening.
The greatest problem with this hotel however is the food. The "a la Carte" restaurants were sheds and the food was ok. The International Restaurant was the best, The buffet was appalling. Every guest we spoke to had a story to tell and the doctor eventually ran out of tablets and had to start giving medicine. Everyone had the runs. The food had lots of flies flying about and the raw meat and fish were lying next to each other waiting to be cooked 'fresh' on the grill!
It got to the point where the only thing people were eating was the toasties from the snack bar.I hadto pay 26 cuban pesos when l saw the doctor for some tablets and was l glad l did. I have never been ill on holiday and was shocked to discover most of the guests had the same symptoms as me.
The Tryp Cayo Coco could be a wonderful hotel if only someone would take the trouble to sort the food out and maybe invest in somemore glasses. Anyone looking to lose weight should visit the Tryp,The Food Hygiene is so appalling.
(We would recommend going to Havana for the 2 day trip though)

However we were very pleasantly suprised to find a gem of an hotel.
Though the hotel itself is in need of a bit of a face lift around the edges it is extremely clean and comfortable, linen etc.changed daily, rooms spacious and overlooking well kept grounds.
Plenty of sunbeds to go round by the pool and on the beach, which has lovely white sand.
The hotel has several al-a-carte restaurants to choose from as well as the main buffet, all serving a very wide choice of excellent food, ranging from burger and chips to lobster and steaks with all the wine you can drink.
The staff cannot do enough for you, everybody is so helpful, especially our breakfast and lunchtime waiter 'William'who looked after our needs throughout our stay,he is very keen to learn our language, so he asks if its, cushty, sorted or a proper job.
Usually the welcome meeting on the first day is a boring affair but our First Choice Rep. was the best we have encountered,so helpful and always there for you, so thank you Junior.
The only problem we encountered was that we picked the wrong week,as we were invaded by 200 Canadian students on a week out of college, apparently this happens 2nd week in Feb.and again in Mar. Didn't spoil our holiday but did complain once about noise in the night but quickly dealt with by hotel staff.
Good entertainment for children as well as adults, also plenty of trips, would recommend Jungle tour,my wife and I are in our mid sixties and felt like kids again driving our own speedboat and snorkelling in the mangroves.
All in all we had a wonderful holiday and we shall definitely return in the near future.
On the return trip would recommend the VIP pass for the airport, for about

The choices in the restaurants was very good, though I have 2 very fussy daughters who lived on eggs and chips, my husband and I enjoyed the food, especially the international restaurant where the service was excellent.
The pizza bar on the beach was excellent too and also the grill bar for lunch. At night it became the Italian but we were so busy swatting mosquitoes we couldn't wait to leave, the food was good but couldn't face going back to the mozzies.
The entertainment staff were very good and worked hard, we loved the crazy games in the pool. The accommodation was very good and clean.
The staff were polite and friendly and I found the Cubans to be lovely people who did lots to help make our stay as good as possible.
The gardeners made little birds from leaves for my daughter or gave us mangoes from the trees.
My youngest daughter broke her leg the day before we travelled and was in a wheelchair and everyone was so helpful, changing us to a ground floor room near to the pool and restaurants, we had a lovely man who took us horse riding and stayed with her to help her. We went on a few trips and everyone was so helpful and kind.
We never felt we had to leave tips and so gave them now and then when we had good service and left tips at the end of the holiday.
We will definitely go back again to the Tryp and recommend it to others.

Couldn't fault the food, plenty of choice of restaurants for both day and night. Could always find something to eat. One tip, take your own tea bags with you and also a large thermos cup. As you are all inc. it saves having to keep going to the bar and they keep your drinks cold.
Staff were very friendly, the love children and didn't feel pressured into tipping. We left tips at the end of the 2 weeks for our maid, waiter in the main buffet restaurant and the waiter at the pool bar.
There is plenty of entertainment if you want it day and night.
Main pool did get busy although there is a smaller quieter pool on the complex.
We really enjoyed our holiday and would have no worries about going again and this is from an ex travel agent/tour rep!!

Every morning we would go the the buffet style restaurant for breakfast, our waiter 'William' would have our table ready with coffee and Juice awaiting us.
The 'a la Carte' Restaurant was lovely, try the Champagne Pate if you can, delicious!
The room was spacious and very clean, also the television had alot of american tv programmes such as friends, which was nice. The cleaners came in every morning after we had gone to the poolside to clean our rooms.
The location of the Hotel was fab, just 15 seconds walk from a beautiful carribean beach, Oh if you get the chance have a go of the flying boats, sounds weird but you will understand when you go.
If you can, go on the 'Jungle tour'. This is fab for everyone, you get to drive your own 2 person speed boat
through the mangros then go snorkeling all for about

Lots to go at with 11 bars and 8 restaurants suiting all tastes.
Great service.
A massive complex with a tractor train running round the complex all day.
Entertainment professional and good fun.
Seriously underrated and should be classed higher!
