We went for 2 weeks Nov/Dec 2005.
Fabulous holiday.
Hotel out in the sticks away from anywhere, lovely and peaceful although I must admit the taxi ride to get there was a little rough, at points I think we would have been better off in an off-road vehicle.
Long flight but well worth it, 2 weeks of sunshine, cocktails and entertainment.
The Hotel boasted a least 7 different restaurants as well as the buffet dining area. Italian, Chinese, Creperie, Steak House, Mexican, Vegetarian, Seafood, poss more.
We ate at a different place almost every night and only ate in the main buffet area 3 times in the whole time we were there. We didn't need anywhere outside the resort to eat. However, the restaurants had to be booked in advance at the main reception area in the morning at 10am and in the afternoon at 4pm.
Beach was lovely but could have done without the beach touts. You only had to walk a little up the beach out of the hotel boundary and you were targeted by locals asking you to buy their goods...... tacky stuff at that.
They were pleasant though with phrases such as 'Asda Price', 'Lovely Jubbly' and 'Cheap as Chips'! All added to the amusement of the holiday.
The animation team spoke good English and the shows were very good..... not quite to our taste all the time but I don't think we missed a nights entertainment, if only for a laugh.
However I did feel that on more then one occasion the Brits were the butt of the jokes.... but we can take it and I think they realised that.
The Staff were friendly but even more friendly if tipped, everybody seemed to be after a tip.
I went on a helicopter ride, fantastic views of the sea, the coast-line and other hotels up the coast. I would recommend it to anyone.
The hotel was clean and we were very happy with the accommodation.
Overall a fantastic 2 weeks which we would definitely repeat if we didn't have a list of other places we would like to visit.

We were a bit worried about going as we had heard mixed reports, but the hotel is fantastic.
The buffet food could have been a bit more varied we had a meal at the Italian restuarant well worth it there is so much on the plates I couldn't eat it all.
Not much to do in the evenings best to just get a seat up at the bar.The bar staff are all the entertainment you will need they are excellent, remember to tip it goes a long way remember they don't get paid much at all.
All the staff are very friendly and can't do enough to help you enjoy your holiday.

We stayed at Sirenis Tropical Suites. Well worth the 9hour flight. Friendly helpful staff, fantastic food (no banana lasagna!)extremely clean. Pool towels a wonderful idea, and endless cocktails galore!
Must agree not much to do in the evenings, drink and listen to bands. Went to a couple of outdoor shows and there is always the disco or casino. Had a massage when we arrived, wonderful value, gets rid of the flight stress!
We are already planning to go again next year but will take some games and cards. Must say though that the staff do an awful lot in the day to keep you amused if you have the energy!

We stayed at the Sirenis for 2 weeks in May 2005, the hotel was lovely and clean, never saw a leaf on the floor!!!!
The maid service was very good, a small tip or little pressie for them goes a long way if you want to keep the mini bar stocked well with the drinks you like!!
The restaurants were lovely, we never tried the Crepe one as we dont like them, but the other speciality ones were fantastic, the buffet does get repetetive but you are in the Dominican, its what we expect, not like some people.
The location is a long way from anything, but on a georgous beach. I would not recommend to go in May as its there wettest time of the year and we got 8 days constant rain out of 14 days there!!
I would definately go back as the staff were so friendly, its a great place to chill out, with fantastic pool the biggest in the Dominican.
The entertainment we never saw much of as we were quite happy drinking around many of the bars in the evening.

We stayed in apartments which were of the highest standard, immaculate, towels changed every day, beds changed every other day.
The buffet style meals were superb first class service, the complex is situated right on the beach, all hotel staff were very friendly especially Jacqueline who brought us our drinks from the bar at night (thanks).
The entertainment was not up to much nothing much to do at night could do with more live bands the resident band is not so good.
All in all would definitely return was the best holiday we have had, we went over to watch our niece get married it was a really good wedding. Wedding planner was great at her job nothing was to much bother for her, maybe in a year or two I might have my wedding over there so watch out sorry we could be back ha-ha

Had to post this to counter comment that this is not a 5 star hotel, ridiculous.
The location is fantastic with clean beaches free watersports and ok the games are silly but will keep kids occupied for a while. This place is fantastic value and highly recommended.
It is a long way from main towns but everything you could need is there. If this is the equivalent of english 3 star i would love to know where it is (laughs).
Only wish the Dom Rep was nearer.
