I spent a week in this hotel during a week of business in Beijing. The hotel is very central and in the middle of the Business district.
The plus side is that you are central. The downside, you have to be prepared to wait for up to an hour+ if you need a taxi during peak hour. I have stayed in the Olympic Village quarter the week after and there were always taxis ready when you needed them, regardless of the time.
The Grand Millennium will not keep any taxi ready in the queue, nor were they able to call one when we needed them.
The rooms are large and comfortable but the bathroom is outstanding. The large bath is by the window and you get a beautiful view of the city's business /skyscraper building from your bath. They have two sinks, a large separate shower and decent amenities. The bed was very large and the right firmness.
The staff is very friendly but not the most helpful: no taxi when you need them and business services are limited.
I haven't had time to try the pool nor the fitness centre.
The food was perfectly nice but this is China, you are much better off, both taste-wise and price-wise to venture out of the hotel. Exceptional food at reasonable price is plenty full everywhere in the city. And there is a street vendor for fried pancake with egg, sausage and chilli-hoisin sauce in the morning.
I would recommend the Millennium Beijing for a holiday but have stayed in better places for business.
