Book a swimming pool or sea view room. Its worth the extra money as I know some of the rooms could be quite gloomy due to the design of the building..

Dubrovnik is a beautifull town, very clean, lots to see and lots of history surrounding it. The Old town itself is built within city walls which are hundreds of years old and you can walk around the town on top of the wall.
Plenty of places to eat and drink, menu very varied and food very good value for money. Small beach just before you enter the town, very clean and water very clean too.

The Old City is beautiful and unique with many good restaurants.

Area quite good at the moment lots of bars not too noisy but I think it will become very noisy with more commercialisation
Sea front not too good - sand beach is concrete with a little shingle on top. The old crumbling concrete slide (right on the sea front) is a must to see(not in use) as are the old crumbling concrete shelters. The view out is excellent and the water crystal clear (but you need jelly shoes or similar to stand on the pebbles on the bottom

Dubrovnik is a beautiful, old, walled city, just like a film set with lots of shops, restaurants and buildings to look around, walk the walls for a better view or take a boat trip, we did both - fantastic.

Some good coastal walks, good variety of boat trips and Dalamatia islands and coastline all very picturesque. Dubrovnic and surroounding area still a little down trodden with areas close to slum standard accommodation. A little like stepping back into the 1970's with some serious investment needed across the resort. Had little call to look for entertainment beyond restaurants and walking so unable to comment. Beach was poor with graffiti and rubbish common place. I may go back as the old town was interesting, but not for a few years and I would need to be assured that significant investment has been made!

Dubrovnik has something for everyone, there isnt a theme park, or water parks like other European destinations, but there is literally a wealth of things to see, and if these things are merely in a historical theme, there is things to do, recommended; visit the old town walls, many a battle during the war of 1991 was fought, and the scrapnel marks on the brickwork can still be seen. The city walls nightlife is vibrant and plentiful, and the floodlit cobbled walkways are very picturesque with a great degree of family fun in most bars in the City walls. Also Recommended; a visit to the Islands of Korcula and Mljet - Korcula is the birthplace of Marco Polo and there is a definate Italian theme to the buildings and architecture.
