I have just found this web site after researching for an upcoming holiday and thought I would report on our holiday last year to the Korcula Hotel, Korcula. I hope the bullet point format is easier to read:
Two adults and 12 year old
The journey from Dubvornik to Korcula is a long and mountainous one although you do get the chance to stop along the way. There is then a 20 min boat trip over to the island.
The Hotel is right on the Quay side. Croatia is still building its tourist market so although the staff were very pleasent, brusqueness is evident! The hotel is comfortable and clean and most have balconies overlooking the sea and the town. We choose half board. Unfortunately, the food was dreadful so we choose to eat out!
No entertainment.
Lunch time food is easy to find in fantastic fish bars and cafes. However, there are very few places to eat and queing is the norm especially in the evening. I recommend that you eat out early or spend alot of time in a line!
The sea is fantastic. However, there are no beaches as such on Korcula so be prepared to lie on rocks. Also access to the sea is tricky - if you have small children or elderly. There is a small shingle beach just outside the hotel but space is a premium.
You can go island hopping using the water taxis - cheap but make sure you return to the meeting point at the given time - they don't wait!
The town of Korcula is beautiful and small enough to explore.
All in all a fantastic holiday - like going to Greece 20 years ago. Happy to help if any questions
