This hotel is very clean, it is in a beautiful location with amazing views from the balcony. The location is not very practical for access to shops. There is a shop on site and is limited for what it stocks BUT the staff are very helpful and if they do not have something you want then they will offer to get it for you in town and have it the next day. The general staff are .....ok ...... they can be helpful but can appear to be somewhat standoffish (for want of a better word). The room we had was spacious, you walked in to the hall where the bathroom was, then the bed area and then 2 steps leading down to a sofa and 2 chairs where the TV was, then to the doors leading to the balcony. The food was good, there was plenty of choice and everything was cleanly cooked and well prepared. The entertainment was not good ... one night there was a quiz by the pool area but unfortunately it was ALL in German !!!!!!!!!
The beach is pebbley (Is there such a word?) and this is fronted by what looks like a huge lake but does, in fact, lead out into the sea. There are no waves crashing into shore which we missed the sound of. There are peddalos (Ok not spelt correctly but you know what I mean) and canoes freely available at no cost. There is no cost for the sun loungers either. The pool was very clean and the pool bar was well equiped. I recommend the Krusvovac (Pear liqueur). Ok ..... the steps haha ..... yes the restaurant and shops and beach are all accessed by the "dreaded" steps, about 150 of them and steep. The main trouble is you climb them after eating a 3 course meal to get to the bar and it is not an easy task. We found out on the last day that there is a friendlier slope that you can take from the side !!! The walk into Slano itself is very pleasant and takes about 45 mins with an easy stroll and at the end there is a place to have coffee and more Kruskovac !!!
If you are after a quiet and relaxing time then I recommend it here but it is not the place for excitement.

Had a great holiday at the Osmine hotel. The views take your breathe away from the balcony. The steps are a bit a a burden at the end of the day, but the location far outways this. If you have problems getting up the stairs, use the pathway which curves around the back of the hotel. This can be found to the RHS of the top steps. It takes you to the resteraunt & beach, it is much gentler on the legs. The rooms are spotless & the staff plesant. The food can get a bit monotinious though, but still good. The down side is the entertainment. It is quite poor. But we went for a quiet holiday, which is exactly what we got. Exerlent holidat ,we will go again.

we stayed at hotel osmine in june for 2weeks A/I. the views from your balcony are beautifull, all rooms get this view of the bay.
there are three floors, two lifts.we stayed on the first floor. counting the steps from our room down to the restuarant then down to the beach were 138steps going down is okay but coming back up is not. they have plenty of seats to rest.the bay and beach plus pool are great.
tea coffee soft drinks and alcoholic are there for you all day.the local alcohol is not strong so you couldnt get tipsy if you wanted to. the food is plentifull but by the second week was getting abit bored with it.no english breakfast as such,no bacon, beans, tomatoes.they have cereals, fruit, toast, eggs, plenty of german food.
the entertainment at night starts for the children at 9pm and lasts 15minutes.adult entertainment lasts all of 20minutes(games).
very isolated hotel 35minutes to walk to slano village not much there.bus into dubrovnic around 45minutes.free bikes to use, pedalos, canoes.the hotel itself is kept very clean and as i said the views are out of this world.the only reason for not visiting the hotel again is isolation and steps.

The views from the balconies and the beach are absolutely superb, and well worth the [gulp!] 120 steps down to the restaurant and further steep path to the pool!
THIS HOTEL IS NOT SUITABLE FOR ANYONE WITH A DISABILITY / WHEELCHAIRS / MOTHERS WITH BABIES IN A BUGGY!!!
However, for anyone who wants a chilled out holiday - relaxing by the pool or beach, with free activities such as mountain bikes, pedalos, canoes, windsufing equipment, small boats, as well as daily activities like archery, bowls and volleyball etc then it's idyllic!
The food is very German orientated [probably 60% of the residents are German], but as it's buffet style, you can go up as often as you want for breakfast, lunch and dinner. No one goes hungry here! There are also small snacks at 4pm and 11pm, but to be honest, if you've eaten enough at mealtimes, these are unnecessary!
The hotel is quite isolated, so you need to make the most of the days and then chill in the evenings! The entertainment tries hard, but is very basic - and short - compared to many resorts. There is a shuttle bus into Dubrovnik, which is very reasonable, as well as evening island trips on local boats - which are great fun! If the hotel make more of the entertainment then it could be perfect!
Drinks - you can get drunk on the local alcohol - trust me, I did! However, this is one area that could do with improvement! They have no cocktails, and the drinks are very basic, although international brands are available at a supplement. If you like lager, then stick to that, as the lager is very pleasant, and doesn't give you a hangover - great!
To conclude, I would say the following - this resort is not suitable for the elderly, or young people wanting lots of nightlife. But, if a bit of sports activity or chilling out is your thing, and you want lovely weather [we had an average of 30 degrees every day mid to late June], and beautiful scenery, then this is ideal for you!
Staff are incredibly friendly, as were every one of the guests - even though we were suurounded By German, French and Dutch in the middle of Euro 2004!!!

Stayed AI the Hotel was very clean and bedrooms cleaned each day. The food was excellent and plenty of choice. The location is slightly reclusive. the Hotel staff very friendly and welcoming. The entertainment for the kids was Ok but evening entertainment for adults catering for older age group.
Good Points -Very pictuesque location, great views, brilliant beach, clean. Excellent food, service excellent, friendly staff. Rooms extremely clean.
Bad Points - 110 steps between restaraunt and reception in main hotel. Not suitable for disabled, elderly or very young kids. The walk to Slano Village quiet long, on uneven pavements lots of potholes. Nearest Bus Stop to hotel is in Slano itself approx 25 min strole. Avoid buses at lunchtime school kids rowdy.(Dubrovnik is 30 min ride away not for fainthearted). Hotel is slightly isolated. Evening entertainment prog poor. (Most people played cards.)

The Hotel Osmine advertises itself as an All Inclusive, but it's not as all inclusive as me and you know it...the bar is free, that's all inclusive, the meals are included, thats all inclusive, but the rest is payable, that's NOT all inclusive. Dont expect much of a choice at the bar either, very limited and frankly, very useless. But the Germans' love it.
Watch out for the steps at this hotel, there must be about 100 of them, down to the restaurant, and then after a good (?!?!) meal, all the calories are burnt off walking back up to the hotel.
The rooms are nice and roomy, on about 4 floors, and have Sat TV. most of which carry a great view of the bay.
Problems here with the location, apart from a small (and closed most of the day) cafe up the hill from the hotel, the resort is limited in its resources. The advertised tennis courts consist of a scrap land with a rusty 'net' and the kiddeis play area is also very rusty and is 'tetanus waiting to happen' needs a BIG spring clean if they are to let the major UK Tour operators in for Summer 2004.
But a trip to Dubrovnik is recommended for some culture and a nice mix of things to do.
