The part of Larnaca that our hotel was located had not really opened up for the season so it is difficult to comment on beaches as they had not been cleaned at this stage. Great promenade area that I guess will be lit at night in main season. Good choice of restaurants and bars.

Larnaca has a nice safe clean beach, plenty of pubs and eating places at all price levels.
Their appears to be no entertainment and little to do for children.

The hotel was about 10/15 minutes drive from centre of Larnaca.
There are several bars and restaurants opposite the hotel. We would recommend "La Veranda" 5 star restauant. There is also a new Ten Pin bowling complex a 5 minute walk from hotel.
There is a local bus service every half hour during the day into Larnaca centre. This vehicle is a culture shock and has to be experienced to be believed!
The hotel is right on the beach with access to water skiing, jet skiing, wind surfing etc. The beach is well maintained and offers a lovely walk along the beach front.

Unfortunately we did not like the resort we were in.
Outside the hotel someone had crashed into the traffic light and there were exposed live wires lying about. The area looked run down. Five minutes from our hotel was an oil refinery. As my husband works in the oil business the last thing we wanted to pass each say was this refinery.
There was a bowling alley five minutes away which we used a couple of times because there was nothing else open near us or in Larnaca and also the weather was just like England - wet and windy !
There was no entertainment going on outside our hotel except for one night in a hotel opposite. The hotel is super but in my opinion it is located in the wrong area.
We may have gone the wrong time of the year as all entertainment was closed but unfortunately this has put us visiting this resort again.

I did like the area, we did hire a car as you are a bit out of it.

The resort itself; Oroklini; is off the beaten track and about a mile and a half from the beach so a hire car is pretty much essential really. That said, it's so easy driving in Cyprus, they drive on the left and the roads are fanastic so driving's no problem.
Oroklini is a typical Cypriot village and not suitable for those people wanting a thumping nightlife! If you like a quieter, slower pace of life it's the place for you! There are several excellent tavernas with friendly staff and excellent food at good prices.
The beach is at Larnaca and is nothing special, its much better to drive up towards Agia Napa where the beaches are fab!

Larnaca itself is a very friendly resort. The locals are very eager to please and literally beg you to eat at there restaurants and bars often rewarding you with with free coffee or spirits and free ice cream for the kids. The promenade is lined with a variety of places to eat and right in the middle there's a Mcdonalds, Pizza Hut and KFC if your into fast food. There is plenty of competion so we found the food to be quite reasonable. They don't seem to do childrens portions though so we did have a lot of waste. The beach is ideal for children as the water is shallow and seems to go on for miles. There are sunbeds for hire running right along the beach but check them out as some areas are cheaper than others and some will give you vouchers for free drinks in the local bars. We spent our evenings eating out and just chilling in the bars as there didn't seem much else to do which wasn't very exciting for the children. There are a few nice shops in the town but these did seem to shut early compared to other holiday resorts we've stayed in. There is a good bus service that runs from Larnaca so you can get out and about and explore!
Area near hotel is not Larnaca as stated in brochure, you need to drive 15 mins to get there(it is lovely on the tree-lined prom).
