Arriving at the hotel at 4 O'clock in the morning after a 8 hour delay for our one week honeymoon. We were as you could imagine very tired and fed up.
We were met by a very friendly porter and receptionist. First impressions of the hotel are very grand and clean.
Our room was spotless, bed sheets pulled down, and the very very large bed had been scattered with rose petals!
We also had a fresh bowl of fruit, a bottle of wine and a lovely display of flowers waiting to welcome us on our honeymoon.
The mini bar was well stocked. Breakfast got a little hectic, but the staff were very quick and efficient in making it run smoothly.
The choice of food was amazing, it was very fresh and always hot.
Every day, fresh clean crisp towels were available for us to use around the pool.
The sun beds were very comfortable. They were of high quality, even the mattresses.
Pool staff were friendly and came round with a box of ice cold flannels to give to each guest every day, to cool themselves down in the hot sun.
We ate for two nights in the hotel ,once in the kalypso, which was chinese buffet,(they had different theme nights every night) and then in the ambrosia of which was a complimentry meal for our honeymoon. Both were fantastic.
Rooms were cleaned, sometimes twice a day, always to a high standard, they were also checked by the house keeper.
The staff were always very friendly and always cleaning, keeping the hotel spotless.
Can't really coment on enterainment as we only saw it a few times, as we ventured out most evenings, but what we did see was good.we paid an extra

On arriving at the Amathus it gives an impression of calmness in the reception, everything is effortless.
We found or room to be charming, with a small balcony which looked out over the well maintained gardens to the sea. Hubby and I always find the view an important part of the holiday, as it is nice to sit and take in the view. I cannot fault the room, it was kept spotless, evening brought a second tidy if required with change towels, and bed turn down. It lacked English channels other than news, catering for other nationalities! But who watches t.v that much!
The grounds and pools where lovely, you never waited long for the staff to pop around for drinks, it caters to please. Plus a small well maintained beach, makes it easy to take a dip and then laze away in the sun again.
On the whole the food was excellent, the breakfast area could get quiet hectic, other times it was easy to reach what you wanted and have a relaxing breakfast. We ate in twice and found the food excellent but pricey. Room service was excellent and the food freshly prepared. I got my just desserts by the staff finding it to be my birthday, with 3 cakes!
I did not find fault with any staff member, all went out of their way to assist.
I can't comment on entertainment, as it was so easy to pop out to local bars.
On the whole I think we would return to the Amathus, it gave a relaxing holiday, with no quibbles what so ever. Its location was far away from the busy parts, yet close enough to walk to numerous bars and eateries.
I would certainly book a sea view room, the rear of the hotel overlooks the road, and the hotel is set back just a little way from this, also it tends to be busy at weekends. But all in all a good setting if you choose Limasol.
I have stayed in some good 4 star hotels and good 5 star, this is somewhere in the middle.

The Amathus Beach Hotel brochures do not give any idea of the absolute luxury and quality of hotel and service it provides. It is simply a piece of heaven. I have never enjoyed a holiday so much and moved so little from the complex.
We arrived at 7.00am on 16/7/05 to be welcomed by two people who seemed genuinely pleased to see us. They seated us for the checking in formalities and gave us a glass of orange juice. We then went to breakfast and went to our lovely cool but cosy bedroom with the curtains closed and our beds turned back - But we were too excited to sleep!
The check-in set the tone of the holiday to come. Everybody in genuinely orientated to see that you have a great holiday and nothing is too much for them to do for you. The facilities are jaw dropping!
The decked pool area with two full time security and life guards at all times who are great with the kids and offer swimming tips. The pool waiter staff are a bit like buses, when you don't want a drink there are ten of them but when you are thirsty you can't find one.
The kids club is second to none and there is nothing they would not do for your kids happiness and it's air conditioned which gets them in from the sun for a break. In the kids club the kids can get juice, water or ice creams if you sign a form. BEWARE of kids like my five year old son who must have thought he was at a party the amount he ate in the kids club on the bill was staggering, but I know well he ate it. I should have been suspicious when he never asked me for a treat for the two weeks.
At mid-day one of the pool staff come around with cooled face cloths it's such a treat.
The pool furniture is not the old white plastic stuff where you scarper around looking for a mattress in the morning- These are the real deal! The softest mattresses on lovely solid wooden sunbeds that compliment the decking. There was a lovely garden leading to the sea to sunbathe and if you had no kids then it would have been heaven. There was also a adults only pool which we could not go to. It was a quiet as a library down there.
The food was brilliant and lots of it. In the Ambrosia Restaurant the Table D'hote menu every night. We went one night it was lovely on your own even romantic but with a 5 year old looking for chicken nuggets -NO. Every night there was an outdoor buffet at the Kalypso Garden Each night a different theme every one as night as good as the rest. My favourite was the Mexican night and Italian night. There is a floor show and the singer while predictable after the first two nights is still good and the more wine you drank the better he got! The view to the sea with the lights the wine the good food and the great company we met there was only great.
The Liminaki Fish Restaurant was wonderful. It is right on the sea side. How fresh do you want fish that your feet are nearly in the sea eating it. They have underwater lighting in the sea at the restaurant and it is just amazing it was just one of those life moments! Oh and the fish was great the salmon was just lovely.
The upstairs bar was OK. The singer was good if you liked Jazz but when she was not in jazz mode she was great but she has an amazing voice. It is also good in that there is a balcony with door to look over the pool area and you can drink and talk out there and the singer becomes a background as opposed to in your face trying to talk.
The hotel has its own lovely little beach and there were always beds there. Make sure you go into the water to the right of the beach as there no stones there. I found that out after a week.
We hired a car and drove to Kourion Beach for four of the days and the Fasouri Water Park one day. The water park was great and our son had a great time.
All in all the Amathus Beach is a most outstanding hotel and I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone. However you are in a five star state of the art hotel so don't' go there comparing prices to the pub across the road. It is more expensive.
One word of advise. I booked through a tour operator and was robbed. My sister booked her flights with excel (0r XL something like that). She emailed the hotel and got a good deal I think it was the "Get Up and Go" deal she did much better than I did as she was charged for the room as opposed to per person.
I intend to try there other hotels in Pafos and Rhodes but I think it would be hard to beat where we stayed this year by far the best I ever remember and I have stayed in a few good ones.
