A favourite with Thomson guests, the Apollo is well-placed for exploring the many fascinating archaeological sites around the town. One of the features of the hotel is its large swimming pool, perfect for a refreshing dip after a spot of sightseeing.

Stayed in the Akteon Tourist Village Hotel in Paphos which is part of the Aqua Sol Hotel chain.

These are apartments made up of Studios, 1 & 2 Bedroomed which are not more than two storeys high. We stayed in a ground floor 1 bedroomed apartment which was very spacious and of a high standard, worth its four star rating. It opened in 2003 so everything was nice and clean. The kitchen was fully equipped and had more than enough pots, plates, cups glasses etc. This also had a two ring cooker, with oven, fridge, kettle, toaster,. We had four chairs and a table, in the living area there was sofa bed that could convert into two beds, Satelite tv, shower, bath and toilet. The bedroom was large with two single beds and lots of wardrobe space.

There was also a furnished balcony. Maid service 6 days aweek, providng fresh towels and they would change the sheets if you asked.

The main hotel reception building was very nice. it had two restaurants, a further a la carte restaurant, indoor swiming pool, fitness room, library, bar, tourist information centre. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and were always on hand to help. It has a large swimming pool and a kiddies pool, with sund beds and pool bar.

The only down side is that there is not much of a beach at this hotel. We found it better to travel to coral bay which is about 15 mins away and use the beach there.

I have visited the Apollo for the last 3 years. That about says it all. It's a small and well-managed hotel with exceptionally willing and able staff. I have visited the bigger hotels in the area but have never felt so welcome or been treated so well as I have at the Apollo. The staff make an effort and often work beyond their normal hours (especially late at night at the bar) without complaint.

The atmosphere is wonderful and the wife loves it by the pool - which leaves me free to get stuck into the ouzo and a good book. It's also a haven for peace yet is situated close to the harbour, restaurants, shops, and beach.

This time round I felt I owed them something, so I built a website free of charge for the manager - www.apollo-hotel-cyprus.com . It was fun taking shots with the digicam and working in the sunshine on my notebook. It was my way of saying thanks.
