We upgraded to a sea/pool view room at the Athena Royal Beach, this gave us a lovely view every morning that we woke, and was very peacefull. The food was excellent and maybe the reason why we both put weight on during our stay. The location was within easy walking distance (10-15 mins) of the harbour and plenty of bars and restaurants close to the hotel. On the ocassional evening we ate out at different restaurants. Bus service stops just outside the hotel or alternatively it is easy to get a cab and both reasonable prices. A very quiet hotel, which in turn made the guests quiet who would only speak if you spoke to them. We also hired a car, which again is easy to organise yourself and would recommend it.

Excellent Honeymoon.
Me and my husband spent 2 weeks at The Athena Royal (From the 30th sept 07). Beware the weather was very hot, nearly 40 degrees!
The hotel itself is only 20 minutes on the coach away. The check in was quick and a porter takes your laugage to the room. The room was fantastic, we paid more to have a sea view and I would recommend the extra. Very private - no one could see in to your room, good lay out at the hotel. The room I would say like a travel inn, but with a balcony. In the room is a fridge, safe, iron and board, trouser press, bathroom - with bath and x2 showers. The cleaners are fantastic and the room was always spotless.
The breakfast was definatley worth getting up for and is served up to 10am. You can even sit right by the pool area. The variety is amazing and is very much home from home. Im late 20's and I would only recommend the hotel to over 50's, very quiet in the day and elvis themed night entertainment. But saying this it was ideal for our honeymoon as you can relax and let the world go by.
The health spa and massages are expensive, but nice treat.
Pathos itself is really nice, and the trips are so cheap we did not hire a car.
One trip I would recommend is the Wave Dancer fire works night, excellent night.
Loads of nice restuarants near by to choose from and the bus service is excellent to get you in to the town - if you dont fancy the 20 minute walk.
Book now, you will not be disapointed!

We have just returned from the athena royal having spent two fabulous weeks there, we did not want to come home. The hotel is faultless, it is immaculate, the food is wonderful, (be prepared to put on the pounds!!!!) and best of all it is so relaxing, a place to totally chill as it is adults only, so you can lie by the pool without lilos hitting you and kids screaming round the place, total peace!!
The staff are all so helpful and friendly and will go out of their way to assist in any way. The rooms are lovely, well equipped with a fridge, hairdryer, iron, tea coffee making facilites, bathrobes and slippers, and a safe which are all free of charge. Pool towels are also provided.
The pool area is lovely with plenty of sunbeds anytime of the day so you dont need to get up at the crack of dawn to put towels out!
They have a health spa in the hotel which at a reasonable cost do lovely massages, facials etc.
The entertainment most evenings is a singer which is ok, but on a wednesday they have an elvis night and this is not to be missed, it is brilliant!
We definately will be returning, we have stayed in a few hotels in Paphos and this is the by far the best, if anyone complains then they must be the type who are never satisfied with anything!
If you have booked you will certainly not be disappointed, it is A******

Our first visit to Cyprus and it started badly when we realised at 4.30AM that there wasn't a flight, basically our tour operator had printed the wrong times, but eventually we set off at 11.30AM, reached our hotel at 6pm Cyp time and we were both exhausted!
The receptionist was very frosty and mistook us for someone making a transfer from the Pioneer hotel. We filled out the usual forms but to this day I was so tired I could have registered as ET! No welcome to Cyprus, just this is your room, your luggage will be sent up now get on with it type of attitude!
Breakfasts were unbeatable, fresh orange juice that tasted as it should and you can juice them yourself. We never ate lunch there as we were always out and about but the dinners were very good standard, even if you were picky there was something for you to try and always fresh fruit which is my favourite.
Hotel very clean and the rooms cleaned every day, the maids always left fresh towels even when we left them hanging up and fresh pool towels also.
There's a mini market for toiletries, snacks water etc and a small spa, I had a full body massage and a facial and both were excellent. Pools also good.
Weather was fantastic except for showers a couple of times and there was thunder and lightening the night before we flew back, we watched from our balcony and it was some show! This was the worst weather for 20yrs the locals said but if I had it here in Ireland I sure wouldn't be complaining! I want to go back to Paphos again but won't stay in Athena Royal, I think The Elysium next time as I want a different location.

This was our first visit to Cyprus although our friends had been before. We all found the hotel to be absolutely wonderful.
Very clean, staff very friendly and helpful and above all the choice of food available in the restaurant was second to none.
Nobody would starve owing to such a choice, both for breakfast and evening meal. Beach was a bit iffy, too many rocks!
However, the hotel pools more than made up for this. Entertainment not too bad but could be better in the main bar.
I must just mention the strawberries, cream and ice cream served round the pool at 3.00 pm every afternoon, these were delicious and very welcome - worth every penny!

The Athena Royal is in an excellent position and is well worth a visit if you want a peaceful holiday.
It has a no children policy and that leads to the people staying at the Royal as a more mature person.
For people on bed and breakfast I would recommend trying one of the the theme nights, only CY

The sea view from our balcony was something you can only dream of and having breakfast on the sun terrace with the sea only yards away was always something to look forward to.
The breakfast was excellent with such a wide variety of freshly cooked food. Although on B& B basis we had dinner at the hotel on 5 occasions and was never disappointed.
The staff were as friendly as we have ever encountered abroad and couldn't do enough for you.
Sun beds around the pool or on the grass overlooking the sea were plentiful and always available no matter the time of day.
The strawberries and cream at 3.30pm every day is a must although at
