Dionysos Hotel, Paphos.
It was a dirty grubby hotel, lots of things broken, toilet seats, shower curtains etc. Some people had flea bites which occurred at night when they were in bed.
Swimming pool dirty round the tiles and the patio surrounding the pool was crumbling, broken and dirty.
There was frequently no water in the bedrooms to wash or shower, obviously could not cope with the demand. Left with shampoo on hair and no water to wash off. Air conditioning very noisy and ineffective, rooms a bit like being in a sauna.
Breakfast acceptable, evening meal awful. Often cold and greasy food, no proper facilities to keep cooked meals warm. Frequently ran out and had to wait for fresh supplies. Seemed to be short of staff in dining areas all the time. No spoons, bowls, plates, always having to wait them. Chocolate cake every night for desert , or jelly, cold rice pudding, or custard and melon. No other change for two weeks. Everyone was complaining about it.Italian food was disgusting.
No entertainment at all. The gym was laughable, just a dirty room in the basement like a dungeon and full of broken equipment.
No facilities to look after luggage on day of departure. Refused to give us the evening meal paid for by Thompsons on the day we left until we called the Thompson rep.
The only good thing was the position - right in the centre of Paphos. But this meant we spent every night in bed right above a nightclub which "rocked" until 3.30 am - so not much sleep. Corridor windows were ill-fitting and wouldn't close so could not stop flies or noise getting into building.
On the whole a thoroughly badly run, grubby place. I am amazed that Thompsons use it.
Cleaners seemed quite happy to leave doors open as they cleaned the rooms. I could have got into quite a few occupied rooms quite easily and made off with other people's property.
