I'm just going on-line to book a Cyprus holiday for Boxing Day (hopefully at the Anastasia).
Rooms were cleaned daily and you can throw your towels in the bath if you want them replacing or keep them hanging up if you wish to re-use them, it's their way of helping to save water and the environment.
Poolside area is brilliant with paved or grass areas so you can choose and there are plenty of parasols too if you want to hide from the sun like me.
Entertainment was spot on both around the pool and in the bar at night.
The Thomas Cook reps work hard to entertain everyone of every age.
Food - we went half board, breakfast was the most comprehensive I have ever seen in any hotel with 5 or 6 cereals, fruit, croissants, ham etc for the continental type people and full English with an amazing choice. Evening dinner was also tons of choice with soup or salads etc for starters, about 7 or 8 choices for main course with loads of potatoes, chips and veg and then plenty of choice for desserts and even cheese and biscuits. A wine and drinks list is brought to your table you have been allocated. Try the Cypriot wine DANAE it blows your head off after a couple of bottles.
The area is just out of Protaras and to be honest, on the first night out we ran out of pubs after an hour but there is another area just about a 5 minute walk away which I think is called Pernera? we had an awesome night in the Knights pub there. There is also a regular bus service at the top of the street which you can go to Paralimni - Protaras - Ayia Napa and go as far as you want for 70 cents (about 95p) also taxi's are very reasonable too.
We also had some excellent lunches at the Blue Spice restaurant across the road from the hotel, well worth a visit and good food at a reasonable price.
The only down side to the Anastasia for me was that the drinks were very expensive and at the Marlita Hotel literally 20 yards from the pool of the Anastasia, food and drinks were considerably cheaper than Anastasia. The reason this felt like a bit of a downer was that both the hotels are owned by Tsokkos hotels and I think the food and drink pricing at the Anastasia was exploiting 4 star customers but it never spoilt my holiday so what the heck. Tsokkos own virtually every property in the area so they have a bit of a monopoly around there.
Will I go back - you bet I will.... to be continued in January 2006

I was on B&B basis the food was very good all you could eat and more besides you could never go hungry.
The towels were changed every day if you wished just had to leave them on the floor and the bed linen twice a week.
The pool area was also kept clean & tidy plenty of sun beds & umbrellas to use.
The entertainment was a bit so so.
The hotel was only a stones throw away from a little cove, plenty of bars & places to eat nearby also more in about a 10 minute walk away.
The staff were very helpful & would do anything for you, this was our first time in Cyprus think we made a wise choice would go back again soon.

The hotel itself is brilliant, the reception is like the hanging gardens of Babylon, very pretty. The hotel has recently been refurbished, brand new wall-to-wall carpets have been laid everywhere, there was that lovely new carpet smell........
The food could not be faulted: Breakfast choice of 5 cereals, fully cooked breakfast, continental, 3 fruit juices, fresh fruit. Lunch has a great choice (it is not all chips & more chips). The evening meal is in a very elegant dining room, and the evening menu is superb.
As it was early season the entertainment programme was low key, bingo & disco every night + occasional live Greek music.
All-in all we had a wonderful stay at the Anastasia and we know it will not be the last time we visit.
Very Highly Recommended.

The hotel itself is fine better than we thought although not worthy of the 4 stars.
The food was very poor but the entertainment was really terrible.
The location of the hotel was great, just outside of Protaras and not far from the ghostly experience that is Famagusta.
All I would say is if you are going out of season, unless you are in your 60's I would think about it. If you do go then I do advise you do not go All Inclusive as it is a waste of money. We ate in the hotel 3 times.
I would recommend Cape Greko though and the restaurant opposite the hotel.

This was our 2nd trip to this hotel, and after having such a fab holiday there in 2003, it had a lot to live up to. It was just as good the 2nd time round. As we were leaving they had just started renovating with new paintwork, new carpets etc.
We have already booked again for this October.

Hotel Food. Generally good.
Hotel Location. Located down a blind but noisy alley, any room overlooking the road will be sujected to noise until daybreak. Bins emptied at 4.00am. You have been warned!
Hotel Staff. Generally Eastern european youth performing the menial tasks. Early shift and Late shift managers Excellent!! If you have a problem see these guys.
Entertainment Non existent.
Would not visit this hotel again but Proteras/Cyprus YES.

But when we got there all those nasty reports were out of the window, as for the WHOLE week we had a excellent time! The hotel entrance was very grand and classy which set out what we were in for.
Breakfast was delicous with too much to choose from. They had fry-ups, cereals, doughnuts and much more! And after a huge breakfast we didn't really want much for lunch but because it was so nice it would be rude not to have any! Dinner also had a nice variety. And seen as they were feeding about 300 people the food quality was very good.
In fact the only two downers, about the hotel, was the entertainment it never got the crowd going and the beds were REALLY hard!
All in all a very good holiday and hotel and would defiantly go again!!
