My wife & I spent our 25th wedding anniversary here as part of a planned twin-centre holiday with Sharm El Sheikh. It's a really clean, spacious,& well maintained hotel (as expected from the Sofitel Group). Our room was very well appointed, with the biggest & most comfortable hotel bed we've ever experienced!! There's a choice of in-house restaurants, and our evening meal in Romeo & Juliets was superb. The coctail bar (with piano player on the central island over the pool) is a really romantic setting to end any evening. The alternative is to head for the roof terrace bar and watch sunset over the pyramids of Giza - they seem close enough to reach out and touch ! The only downsides to this hotel are it's location and the very small pool. The pool itself is quite small for the hotel size,& the very steep slope from 0.5mtr to 3mtr could catch out the unwary (there is a safety bar before the drop). If you get the angle right it is possible to lay back in the shallows and see the reflections of the pyramids in the tinted glass wall below the terrace bar. However,we found it virtually impossible to relax around the pool due to the constant honking traffic noise,as the hotel backs onto one of Cairo's busy road junctions. That's my only reason for not putting the Sofitel Sphinx on my list of places to return to,but some people may cope with the noise better & enjoy their stay.

We loved this hotel, from the moment we arrived, the decor is fantastic with all the replicated egyptian statues and furniture. It was very quiet inside although busy at the same time. The rooms were lovely with the most comfortable beds. We were on the ground floor with a lovely shady terrace/patio. There is also a small play park/area for kids.
Wide choice of food, all at very reasonable prices. A few restaurants to choose from. The deli/sandwich bar was by far the best. Huge portions, and very tasty. Staff were particularly friendly and attentive.
Everything was very clean and well maintained.
The hotel over-looks the pyramids at Giza, which is a spectacular view. Although, as the hotel is also situated beside a very busy roundabout, it was extremely noisy at all hours(outside). Our room was at the other side of the hotel so was very quiet.
We did not experience any entertainment as we were only there for 3 nights.
Would definately visit this hotel again.

Hotel was our first stop in 17 days in Egypt.
Had read on other review sites about it and was worried about the refurb programme especially the rooms.Pleased to say worries were unfounded room was fantastic bed was the comfiest I have slept in in my life.
Ok we had street noise in morning but hey we were in Cairo.Staff were excellent views over pyramids amazing food cheap and very good.
We will use Sofitel chain again whether in Egypt or not.

After the restricted space on our Nile Cruise boat, it was wonderful to enter the beautiful reception area at Sofital le Sphinx. Our rooms had just been redecorated. We had two huge beds in our double room, big soft pillows, the best egyptian cotton sheets, it was the best, most comfortable bed I've ever, ever slept in.
Beautiful gardens, with a view of the pyramids. Circular pool with a bar and you could see the pyramids reflected in the windows of the restaurant whilst you were in the pool. Big soft beach towels available all the time for the padded sun beds. The staff were polite friendly and helpful.
