Jaz Almaza Beach Resort.
Accomodation was excellent. Room cleaned and polished every day. Very roomy rooms. Nice shower though ventilation did not work. Food was good though very Italian. I like pasta so did not affect me. When meat was on it was very nice. They are gradually going English with some of the dishes.
I had dicky tummy after 3 days but it did not deter us from enjoying the stay and I think it was only due to the different foods and nothing to do with the water.
We now know where all the UK's House Sparrows went...to the Med. Although they are in abundance around the hotel we did not see one bird mess anywhere. Maybe a special Holiday resort breed.
The Egyptian people were very friendly and you will find no Egyptian women (visable) workers at the resort.
I suppose everything considered a good holiday.

Just returned from the holiday from hell. We thought this was a brand new hotel for this year but what we did not know was this hotel is run by Italian's for Italian's and if like us don't speak the lingo you have had it . The hotel was kept nice it was clean the bedrooms were on the small side we booked a superior room only to be told by the rep the hotel only have standard or family rooms no superior rooms. My ladies bin in the shower room did not get emptied for 4 days i left it just to see how long they would go before they did empty it. The food not much there you had to wait around for trays to be refilled and wait a while for things to be cooked on the BBQ. Around the pool was a nightmare you would get a cold drink take a sip lay down then a short while later would sit up only to find your drink had been taken this happened many times each day.The staff were nice but no where near as friendly as in Luxor or Sharm maybe because they cannot speak much English only Italian. The brochure tells you all about the daytime and evening entertainment but sadly what they do not tell you it that is is all in Ialian.I see Thomson's have now put on their web site some entertaimnet maybe in Italian but trust me it is all in Italian. This hotel is run for them and they make it clear they don't like us brits.I have read other reviews about this hotel not sure where they stayed but i see it different to them. A couple were brought it for the brits but in the week we stayed there we had 2 games of water pol and 2 water aerobics and at night tried to do a couple of karaoke. We went on the rock and shop trip as only way to get to see any shops which are one hours drive away. It was half a day so you on and off the bus not enough time to look around and don't get caught like we did if you want to take photo's in Rommel's cave you have to pay 20 Egyptian pounds blink and you miss the cave. Is This hotel is for me a noi don't think so would not recommend it or go back there again no way .

Just got back this morning from Thomson's new resort Marsa Matrah(MATROUH)in Egypt, stayed at the Jaz Almaza fantastic location right on the beach which is fabulous can get very windy but nice when its hot. Excellent rooms and service, very clean lovely pools not one is heated. Now the downside they cater greatly for the Italians which have been their main occupants since they opened, if you don't eat pasta or fish for every meal you are in trouble. They try but cold undercooked food no way we complained to the rep lovely girl Kay, and she got chips put on for every meal who wants to live on chips. The salads are ok but meat forget it, I got the Egypt tummy as well as did most of the people came back 1/2 stone lighter.(bonus)We spoke to people from the Crystal next door and they got meat, so maybe some communication?
