We were really surprised how lovely the hotel is. Our rooms were cleaned daily by a really friendly guy who could achieve some wonderful origami with the towels he left on the queen size bed! Clean sheets every day too.
The satellite TV had really bad picture quality and we could only find one English speaking channel which showed amusing old movies with Egyptian subtitles! Not that we had time to watch it much!
Our son had his own room in our apartment which was very basic but he literally only slept in it so it really didn't matter.
The food in the restaurant was lovely. There were at least 18 platers of pastries/deserts to choose from at every meal, along with platers of salads and a hot(tepid) buffet with lots of fish and chicken and beef and local veggies. There is also a chef on hand to cook an omlette for you with filling of your choice for breakfast or pasta for lunch.
I must add that my husband had quite bad diarrhoea for 2 days though I was fine and so was our son- at least 3 others we spoke to were poorly while they were there. We just put it down to change of eating style and the local hygiene in general is not as high as in England.
The staff at the hotel were wonderful and could not do enough for us. We asked for extra pillows and they arrived in the room within 5 minutes. They love children.
There wasn't much to do at the hotel apart from sunbathe or swim in the pool. The bar is quiet and just a nice place to relax and meet people after dinner. They do have a 'disco' but its usually deserted as everyone gets a taxi into Naama Bay for entertainment! It suited us fine as we wanted to relax and get away from it all.
My 5 year old son didn't use the playground either as it is so out of the way- we didn't even find it for 3 days!
The walk to the hotels rocky beach takes about 10 minutes. Its 3 small terraces with the beach bar on one of them. Theres a floating jetty out to edge of the reef that we dived and snorkeled off. The reef and fish there were fantastic- no need to go out in a boat! The sea can be quite choppy and the sand is very gritty/stony so not so good for kids there.
The hotels sandy beach is about 15 minutes by free shuttle bus. A very quiet, relaxed beach with a dead calm, warm sea which is perfect for children. There are boat/ submarine trips and a few water slides up one end of the beach. The only drawback is there is only one minibus there and back a day which is usually crowded.
