We stayed at the Grand Sharm last August (2004). I am surprised to read some previous reviews.

We found the cleanliness exceptional, our housekeeper was lovely. We were there with our son and daughter in law, with separate rooms.

The food was excellent, we did eat in the evenings on many occasions and the choice although buffet at each meal time was excellent.

The staff were amazing and could not do enough for us, they were so friendly, even the gardeners who worked late in the evening as it was cooler, they could not speak much English but always acknowledged us.

I would recommend the hotel, although our one complaint was about guests and not the hotel, there were a lot of Italians staying at the same time, they were extremely rude to staff and treated them with contempt.

The staff at the hotel were paid very low wages and worked very long hours. I know having got friendly with some of the staff that they arrive for work at 5am and could be working until 2am, and if they arrived back at 5am with a dirty shirt or smelling slightly of BO, they were sent back home to change and shower, their finger nails were inspected regularly.

Whilst the hotel offered no entertainment, Na'am bay was a 10 min bus ride on the free hotel bus (driven by our friendly driver)or 2 Egyptian pounds if you wished to risk your life in a local taxi and there were several bars etc just across the road from the hotel.

The Creative Grand Sharm Resort Hotel should not be confused with the Iberotel Grand Sharm Hotel (just next door!) The hotel is a 10 min taxi ride from Naama Bay, the main resort area.
The Creative is a nice-looking hotel and we had no real complaints. It was a 5-10 min walk to the beach, which was fine for us but might be a problem for some.
The beach was well maintained but there did seem to be a lack of sunbeds if you did not get there early.
The fringing reef was excellent for both diving and snorkling.
Very few brits at the hotel but this meant that most of the entertainment and activities were designed for Italians. It was often quite loud too.
The hotel restaurant was OK, buffet style. The food seemed to get better as the week went on (or maybe I was just getting used to it!). There was little alternative unless you went into Naama Bay.
