We really liked the Sheraton, the rooms were good, we had a brilliant view over the Nile and the Ban mountains. The food was good, i'm a vegetarian and there was plenty for me to eat. There is a really good Italian restaurant on site and if you get fed up of hotel food just around the corner is an English cafe run by two men from leeds, room service was really cheap and after a long day sightseeing it was nice to have dinner in our room. The fruit juices were really nice try the strawberry.
While not exactly centrally located the taxis are so cheap it doesnn't matter we did walk to the museum but it was a touch too far in the heat. It is situated on the banks of the nile which is a bonus.
The staff were very helpful especially when my daughter was taken ill with an ear infection the porter even went in a taxi himself to get her medicine.
The entertainment wasn't brilliant but we went out most nights or were just too tired so weren't really bothered. The only negative thing that I can say about this hotel is that the pool is too small it is also deep, but the pool man was really helpful and no matter what time we went would get us a sunbed and umbrella and kept walking round making sure we were in the shade.
I would visit this hotel again but my daughter would have liked a larger pool.

We decided last year that we were bored with the usual holidays to Spain, France etc, so we decided to book a family holiday with a difference. We jetted off for two weeks at the end of July 2003: I didn't realise it would be so hot!
We arrived at the hotel and first impressions were excellent. The reception hall was very luxurious with a water feature and plenty of comfortable chairs. We checked in very quickly and the staff were very helful and they secured two rooms next door to each other for us. Our bags were taken up to our rooms and we followed after a complimentary drink, the lifts were also great!
The room was fantastic. Very spacious for two people and spotlessly clean. We had Satellite TV with a range of channels which was good. Also tea and cofee making facilities. The bathroom was also impeccable and was cleaned, along with the room, every day. Sheets and towels were also changed daily.
We went BB and the breakfast was superb - everything that you could possible want. Very clean and beautifully presented. Eating outside overlooking the Nile felt timeless.
This is an exceptional hotel and is located back from the centre of the resort so you feel really safe.
Highly recommended!

I stayed in the sheraton hotel twice and would definately go again, excellant views of the nile, staff really nice and helpful.
Especially the guy round the pool he can't do enough for you, (think he is part of the fixtures and fittings). I have done the nile cruise once for 3 days want to do the week one next time I go.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of going. also if you get chance to go to the red sea snorkeling/scuba diving go this is not to be missed.

This was my fifth stay at the Sheraton, this time after a weeks Nile Cruise.
The position is one of the best in Luxor, especially as the circular pool reaches out into the Nile. A wonderful place for a sundowner is the terrace above the pool. Watch the glorious sun set over the Theban hills.
Service excellent, plenty of choice for meals and a feast for breakfast.
The pool man (and he has been there years), always goes out of his way to assist you finding that precious shade in the summer and the pool water is so very warm.
Pay the little extra for a Nile view, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and everything in the bedroom and bathroom is changed daily - spotless. Room service is good value with plenty of choice and the staff are so friendly.
You do not even have to raise yourself from the sunbed if you want a drink from the bar, just raise the little flag by your bed!!
Of course this is also a great base for some exciting excursions, a must is the temple of Karnak, the larges temple complex in the world and the Valley of the Kings to see the tombs. If visiting the valley in the summer, get over there by 7 in the morning if you can as the temps reach over 50 in the summer.
We will be returning.

The Sheraton you cannot fault. On arrival we were put into single beds so the wife spoke to the rep and we were moved while we were at the pool. The hassle removed the a/c did not work, so after 2 sleepless nights another chat with the rep and we once again packed up left everything to the porter, went to the pool, and picked up our new key to a room overlooking the Nile. Pure heaven. Watching the sunset over this nightly made the holiday for me.
Took in the Nile on a cruise which while very hot moving round hatchepsuts (spelling possibly wrong)at midday and getting up at 6 it was well worth it would definitely stay here again

Myself and my mother visited the Sheraton Hotel in November 2002 and loved every minute of it. To be honest I was surprised that I would like it as I am not a big fan of egyptology but I was hooked straight away.
The Sheraton is in a superb location, overlooking the Nile, it has a colonial feel to the place. The Hotel is in a quiet part of Luxor probably around 10mins away from the main town. There are some local shops and restaurants approx 3min walk from the Hotel.
Food and Cleanliness was of a high standard and not once could I find fault, the food can be a touch expensive in the Hotel, but you are only a few minutes from some local restaurants which are much cheaper and the food is gorgeous. I never suffered at all from stomach problems and I ate in the Hotel as well as in local restaurants.
The staff were always friendly and professional, some even offering private guides of the city, you do need to tip as their salaries are very small and it is expected, but not in a pushy way. It was a pleasure to tip, as the service was excellent.
Entertainment was very limited, a disco and bellydancer was about it, but after a day visiting the sites, all I wanted to do was retire to bed and I would say that most guests did the same due to the early starts. If you are looking for a lot of evening entertainment then this is not the place for you, a quiet drink in the cocktail bar or overlooking the Nile was about it.
I would definately return to The Sheraton as it was one of the best holidays I have been on, if you are a romantic then this is an ideal place for a Honeymoon.
