The hotel was clean with spacious bedrooms, clean bedding and towels. The location was good, but the service of the staff was shocking, they were so rude. The food was disgusting, breakfast time was a farce and in the end lots of customers gave up waiting for it as me and my husband did. We had a breakfast on the way to the Lakes. The dinner in the evening had to be sent back, the meat was off. Luckily there was a couple of Pizza shops we could choose from in the high street.
If it wasn't for our driver Keith and the lakes tour, I think we would have caught a train back home.

This is an excellent Best Western hotel on the edge of the city, so nice & quiet, but close to everything.
The rooms are large, and very comfy, and the staff (all of them!)are among the friendliest I have come across in the UK.
Breakfast (full English)is included in the rate, and the hotel has a very nice bar.
All in all, a good base for the Borders, The lakes and Hadrian's Wall.
