I booked the Hillthwaite House Hotel for a 2 night stay after being recommended by a friend. The reason for the trip was a birthday treat for my partner, however after checking in to the supposedly "Classic" Room (which was more expensive than the standard room) we were met with a massive disappointment, the view (see photo here http://imageshack.com/a/img923/8519/reRqhH.jpg). The room is small (so god knows how small the "Cosy" double room is) and we have a view of a stairwell and a back yard (see photo here http://imageshack.com/a/img924/8771/d048vX.jpg).
My partner was so disappointed she immediately went to reception to ask if 1) this is a "Classic room and 2), could we be moved. She was met with the response of "Yes it's a Classic, No", no apology at all, no let me see if we can move you tomorrow, nothing! Just that response, which is very poor customer service.
The room itself isn't that bad (other than being very small), the bed is comfy although the "king size" bed is actually 2 singles with a king size topper on top, the decor is nice but there is a distinct lack of power sockets, having to unplug the kettle and bed side lamps to charge up our mobile phones.
The bathroom in room 4 is also tiny with just a shower curtain hanging into the bath for the shower, not what I expect for £135 a night B&B!
To add insult to injury, whilst sat in the sauna chatting to a couple staying for 1 night, we found out that we had paid £135 per night B&B whereas this couple had paid £149 but there deal also included 2 x 4 course evening meals in the restaurant (this cost to us an extra £77.90 (£38.95 per person)) and they also received a free bottle of wine in their room on arrival! We are staying 2 nights and this couple are only staying 1 night, so we feel rather ripped off.
Oh and I forgot to say, on arrival we were asked if we would like a newspaper each day, so we said yes and selected a title, only to find we had been charged £2 each day for it (we assumed it was complimentary like other hotels we have stayed in and there was no mention of a charge for it) and we also noticed on our bill on the drive home that we had also been charged twice for a £1 donation to a local charity!! I wouldn't have minded if they had asked but to just take it without asking is just plain wrong!

This Hotel is faultless, spotlessly clean and has the most pleasant staff we have had the pleasure to meet.
From booking to check out this Hotel is so proffesional, the owners should be very proud of themselves for having such high standards.
The views are fantastic, especially from the Terrace.
There is a glass of bubbly when you arrive and if you stay in the exec room (highly recommended) you will get a mini bar free of charge(wine and mineral water) which just adds that lovely welcoming feeling to your stay at the Hotel.
The food is very well presented and cooked, the chefs must be of superior training.
This Hotel is suitable for children to as it has a pool and a childrens menu.
It would be Ideal for a Honeymoon break or a Romantic weekend away, well done Hillthwaite House Hotel.
