The Durley Dean Hotel looks like an old Victorian Building. It is located 15 minutes walk from the town centre or 5 minutes walk to the beach. It is downhill going but a steep hill back up again. Some of the rooms have been refurbished and are more than adequate. The standard of cleaning is acceptable but it could not be described as spotless.
The staff are generally young and very pleasant but do not know how to deal with any problems. The breakfast is terrific and the evening meal is nice but expensive unless you can get a deal. The bar area is small and rather grotty. Drinks are expensive. No entertainment is provided. For what we paid it was good value and for the same money we would return but would not pay the hotels official advertised rates.
Unless you get there early and leave your car in the hotel car park, parking can be a real problem. By all accounts refuse a room on the lower ground floor.
