Never stayed at a Travelodge before, but as we needed two rooms, and were only staying one night, we decided to try it. Plus it was just over the road from the theatre we were going to.
By the time you added on all the "extras" like breakfast and early check in it wasn't THAT cheap. The outside isn't at all attractive, but we were happy with the rooms we were given on 2nd floor in the Drury Lane building. The rooms were clean and warm, decor was good and bathroom was spotless. However, we later found the bed was creaky and uncomfortable (no problems in the other room). There are no toiletries provided apart from a tiny bar of soap. Shower wasn't very efficient, and fixed-head type so high up it was impossible to reach it to adjust. You definitely need to take your own shower cap or you end up with wet hair and there is no hairdryer- though it might be possible to borrow one from reception.
Had a meal, a late night drink, and breakfast in the hotel. All were just adequate. Staff were friendly and efficient, but information was scarce, e.g. bar opening times, meal serving times.
The location was great for sightseeing and theatre, easy walking distance to Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, London Eye etc. Plenty of little shops, pubs and eating places on the doorstep. I would stay there again (but eat elsewhere) as long as I remembered to take a shower cap and tested the bed on arrival!
