Chesterfield Mayfair is a fantastic hotel (as is the only other Red Carnation hotel i've tried The Montague). I'd definitely say that this 4* is better than several 5* hotels i've visited.
If you're looking for old English charm this is the place for you. The decor is very traditional and sumptuous, it won't suit those looking for modern, minimalism. Service is old fashioned too, they can't do enough for you.
Our room was very nicely decorated and the only fault i can find is that it was quite small. The bathroom was superb with a gorgeous rain-head shower over the bathtub. Good quality toiletries are supplied as are a gown and slippers. Turn down service was provided without request, leaving sweets and complimentary mineral water by the bed. If you could find fault with the room it would soon be rectified as the receptionist will call just after you've arrived to check that all is OK.
I didn't get to sample breakfast as we'd had a late night and opted for a lie in but they have everything else right here i can only imagine that breakfast would've been just as good.
Not a cheap option by any means but you get what you pay for.
