The Russell is a large London hotel that has undergone extensive renovation. It's 'busy' rather than 'minimalist' with lots of very fussy decoration, which fits well with the very grand surroundings but somehow doesn't edge it into the 'luxury' category.
My problem with the Russell is that despite its very-friendly staff, and its multi-million pound renovation that the hotel still appears dark, quirky and the rooms are neither spacious, quiet not comfortable.
I've stayed there twice this month and honestly, I'd rather go to a budget chain hotel because you are never quite sure what kind of a room you're going to get.
