We are just back from a 3 night stay in this hotel. We booked a superior double and my sister in law booked the four poster room. Both rooms were amazing, clean and well furnished with lovely crisp white linen.Breakfast in the dinning room was very good with fresh fruit, cooked breakfast, and many extras. We ate in the bar on two nights and found the food to be very good and well priced, with a good vegetarian menu as well, the third night we had eaten too much in Whitby so they gave us a light supper in the lounge which was very appreciated. The staff are very profesional, but, very friendly and they cant do enough for you.
To sum up the Mallyan Spout I would say from check in to check out the service was exceptional, and we will be returning.

Very clean and tidy, on-going updating of the hotel, but no disruption to guests.
Food excellent both in the restaurant and bar. Ideally located for walking and travelling to nearby Whitby. The staff all attentive and friendly.
We will go back to this hotel again shortly. We stayed over Bank Holiday and the hotel was holding a charity "Party in the Park" in aid of the Air Ambulance, a fantastic afternoon of music and food.
Well done to all the staff, long may it continue.

We chose this hotel as we wanted a relaxing, away from it all break and this is what we got.
The hotel is situated at the far end of Goathland opposite the church and is surrounded by fields, the wandering sheep regularly roam outside the hotel.
On entering the hotel you are greeted by a log fire and there are soft, comfortable sofa's from where you can enjoy a coffee or a drink from the bar.
Our room was on the top floor, overlooking the church. It had a double bed, a single wardrobe, a chest of drawers and 2 bedside cabinets. Full bathroom with power shower and bath.
Breakfast is taken in the very smart dining room which has 3 elegant chandeliers. On the Saturday morning our breakfast was brought to the table by the waitress and consisted of 1 sausage, 2 rashers of bacon, a slice of black pudding, tomato, egg, 2 rounds of toast and coffee/tea. On the Sunday it was a buffet style which we found preferable as you could help yourself to as much as you wanted. Also on the breakfast menu were kippers etc. There was also a self service selection of cereals, tinned grapefruit.
The hotel has 2 small bars from where you may order bar meals and also a restaurant, we had a bar meal on our first evening which was fine. It is approx 10-15mins walk into the village where the television series Heartbeat is filmed.
The hotel was bought last year by Stuart and his wife who have plans to put their own stamp on the hotel, inlcuding some refurbishment.
All in all this hotel has a lovely relaxed feeling about the place and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet break in the country.
To Stuart and his wife, I wish you all the best with your new venture.
