As we live in Guernsey we visit France many times a year our first stop being St Malo and the L'Univers
Its an old hotel rebuilt after the war but still has the pre war charm
The rooms are being upgraded bit by bit and are classic French with high ceilings and shutters, and whatever you have heard of French Toilets these are well up to standard
The lift is the smallest scariest thing you will ever go in put your case in press the floor button and run up the stairs
The bar is a very dark and atmospheric place and perfect for your first and last drink of the day
Breakfast is in a light and airy room high enough to park a double decker bus in, good coffee, the tea, well like I said good coffee, as much cheese, cold meats, boiled eggs and of course croissants as you could eat
Dinner is available, we have eaten in before but as you are only meters away from some fantastic restaurants its worth having a look around
There is no Parking unfortunately and parking outside the towns walls is a bit risky
All in all good Hotel good location and friendly staff

We stayed at this Hotel in March. I booked it through France Hotel Reservation online. The Hotel is situated in the Place Du Chateabriand the busiest square in Saint Malo. The hotel is Intra Muros which means inside the city walls and therefore tends to be slightly more expensive than hotels outside the walls.
There are a multitude of bars and restaurants near by so you are spoiled for choice.
The Hotel itself was spread over 4 floors it has a bar, a breakfast room and an a la carte restaurant. The breakfasts are buffet style. The bar is quite famous in the area and although slightly small it's full of charachter. We had a tripple room which was huge and a large bathroom with bath and shower.
Hotel was very clean and well maintained.
There is a taxi rank just outside the walls of the city (2 mins from hotel)so no problem for transportation to Dinard Airport (8km away from Saint Malo). I scored the entertainment 1 for the hotel as there were no organised events but there are no end of bars and cafes in Saint Malo to spend your evenings in.
For middle of the road standard and price, the Hotel D'Universe is is good value for money.
