This hotel is situated about three minutes walk from the Place de Nation, so is handy for the metro and RER. It's slightly out of the centre but in 10 minutes you are right in the middle of Paris. It is also convenient if you are planning a visit to Disneyland because the RER gets you there in 30 minutes. We did it door to door in 40 minutes.
There is little in the way of bars or entertainment within the immediate locality but a ten minute walk toward Place de Bastille brings its rewards and the area is safe enough at night to walk around. There are one or two small local shops nearby which supply all the little items that are essential especially when travelling with children.
The hotel has some lovely public rooms all decorated in art deco style. They were always spotless and tidy.
The hotel reception staff could not have been more helpful and their English was very good. They appreciated my husband's fluent French though!
We had a family suite. This consisted of a small kitchenette with a full size fridge, sink, toaster, utensils, crockery+glassware, pans and two rings to cook on. There was a large super king size bed and a sofa type bed (huge) with a pull down bunk above it. The room was large and was kept extremely clean whilst we were there. The room itself was large enough for a family of four and there was a clear demarcation line between the childrens area and the adults. The bathroom was huge and spotless.
We overlooked a fairly quiet side street. Some rooms face onto the three small gardens that are scattered throughout the hotel.
The room did appear a little gloomy but I think that was more to do with tall buildings all around and the dark clours of decoration. It was comfortable enough.
Breakfast was a buffet consisting mainly of 'continental' type items plus cooked german sausages and scrambled eggs. We ate enough to keep us satisfied until mid afternoon.
This is an ideal hotel if you have small children and wish to have the facilities of self catering but within a hotel. We paid
