The Park Inn, with 37 floors, has some great views. It's a clean, modern hotel and the staff are very friendly. It does cost extra to stay on the higher floors but I was happy with my view over Alexanderplatz from the 5th floor.
The rooms are spacious but the layout is a little odd as the shower and toilet are only partishoned from the room by frosted glass. There is a modesty curtain that you can draw between the bed and the shower area however. The air conditioning struggles to cope at times and I found it a little too warm at night.
The food and housekeeping are excellent though and you are within easy walking distance of the river for boat tours and major coach stops for the tourist bus tours. There is live entertainment in the bar and the night I was there a British singer/pianist was on and he was very good. All round, a good location to base your stay.
