Just returned this morning from 15 days at Paradise Bungalows which my family and I totally enjoyed. We were there on honeymoon and chose it for the quietness, size and location as our youngest child is only 6 months and his first time abroad in the heat. He was also teething and got his first 2 teeth while there, the staff were brilliant and cheered him up when his gums were hurting - normally when we wanted to eat.

The ladies that cleaned the rooms were very efficient and everything tidied and fresh towels daily.

We had a large family room which had 2 bedrooms with a double bed and a cot in one room and 2 single beds in the other bedroom. Loads of room and a nice balcony with table and 4 chairs.

The chef was brilliant and worked very hard and so did the waiters, the food was very good and our 3 year old daughter ate loads - a very good selection.

You can walk into Hersonisos from the hotel which takes about 40 minutes which ever route you take.

Vicky who runs the entertainment programme ran the childrens club for just our daughter as no other children there for the first week and she enjoyed it. We did a couple of the afternoon craft activities and a few of the evening activities but didn't feel any pressure to join in or take part.

Anyway we had a great honeymoon and the island is lovely.

Our family of 3 have just returned from spending 2 weeks at the Paradise Bungalows just outside of the main resort of Hersonissos, Crete.

My first impression when we pulled up in our taxi was Oh No! The building looked a little in need of a lick of paint and I certainly had my reservations. However I soon learned to love our little holiday hideaway. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly and helped us to our accommodation.

The room was a good size equipped with a double bed (the usual two pushed together), a large dressing table, wardrobe, two armchairs, a fridge and a coffee table. There was a good size bathroom with a full size bath (unheard of usually when in Greece!) and double French doors leading to a very large balcony with table and chairs. The balcony had the most beautiful trees with gorgeous pink flowers cascading down the walls. Grape vines were also in abundance

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at Paradise Bungalows. This was our first time in Greece but will definitely not be the last! From the moment we arrived the staff could not do enough for us(our two year old son was particularly spoiled by all of the staff).

The hotel room was kept reasonably clean with fresh towels and linen every day. All the public areas of the hotel, including the pools, were all very well kept and the gardens were beautiful.

The food in the hotel was of a fairly good standard and there was plenty of choice. There was a comprehensive continental breakfast every morning plus some 'english style' options. The snack bar sold a range of snacks at lunch time and if you are prepared to try the vatious dishes on offer for dinner you could eat something different every night.

The hotel is located a short distance away from the resort of Annisarras but you can walk there very easily. The resort of Hersonissos is, in our opinion, worth avoiding if at all possible. We had to go in to the resort a couple of times to withdraw cash and it was like Blackpool on steroids!

The entertainment was not brilliant but the entertainment rep really did her best to chivvy everyone along. The same rep ran the 'kids club' which our older children enjoyed and made many friends.

The location is a little way from Hersonissos in Anissaras and ten minutes down to the beach where there is a public beach (two sun beds and an umbrella for 6 euros). You need to get the local bus (air conditioned and cheap but mainly only on the main roads) or taxi to get into Hersonnisso proper or it is a long walk.

Nearest bar is just 5 minutes along the road. Everywhere has steep (mainly unlit roads) so that may not be suitable for the elderly or if pushing kids around.

Nice quite location with the two storey bungalows spread out overlooking Hersonissos. All very clean with towels and bedding regularly replaced and beds made each day.

Two pools, one bigger with a kid

Paradise Bungalows, certainly lives up to its name.

We stayed for 2 weeks in July and can honestly say, it was one of our best holidays so far in Greece.

The staff are all first class, nothing is too much trouble. The setting is ideallic, Nikos in the pool bar is very welcoming and efficient. Apostolis the Head waiter is brilliant, this Hotel must have the best Chef on the Island as the food is fantastic ( if you like traditional Greek food ).

Will definitely return to Paradise in the near future. This was made possible by Hellenic Voyages who I have to say are TOP.

Had a good holiday at Paradise Bungalows - we had a good sense of humour and fun. Very safe for the kids, food great and plentiful (although 1st day - arrived middle of the night and had to starve until 1pm next day because we missed breakfast - not great for the children). The rooms are okay 3 stars in 1970!! clean and basic. Good size balcony with furniture. Beautiful gardens. Crickets in the blossom trees make a right racket but you get used to it and don't notice after a day or two.

Mostly the staff were helpful. Waiters and reception fab. Managers (the mum and dad - fake and miserable). We labelled them from fawlty towers. Use charm to get what you want. Complaining doesn't work!!

You are a bit out of the way so travelling is required. Bus at the bottom of the road. Although we mostly took taxis. Because there were so many kids at the hotel when we were there our lot had a great time and didn't want to leave the poolside. There is a little pool at the side of the main pool and next to bar etc my 18month son loved it and was very safe he upgraded (with armbands) to the big pool after the first week. The big pool is clean and you walk out from the hotel terrace (sheltered and cosy) straight onto it so can sit and view all areas. Didn't use the kids club (hot building with not much for little ones) - the rep tried her best.

There's a bus to the beach (ignore reports of no beach - walk 2 mins up from where you are dropped off and you have a beautiful beach with restaurants, shops etc). Bus leaves at 10am don't feel obliged to get the bus back at 2pm they do that to keep you spending in the hotel. You can easily get a taxi or walk back up from the beach about 15 mins.

There are two supermarkets down at the beach one is a lot cheaper than the other!! and you have a fridge in your room.

We stayed half board. Meals at lunchtime are reasonable priced and delicious with plenty.

Definately take a trip to Star Beach Water Park (taxi) - which is free to get in and is fantastic for a whole day out (go day 2 or 3). Lots of activities. If kids are young (under 6) you won't have to pay for a thing.

Entertainment was hysterical (rubbish) we laughed it off, joined in and made our own - took over the cd player and got a party going - it depends on your fellow guests.

Some of the other guests visited the local tavernas - a bit difficult for us to walk the distances with 4 kids under age of 6. Others said there was good entertainment and 'curry nights'!?

Generally a good, relaxing holiday, plenty of sun bathing, eating and swimming. The kids loved it. Adults make your own entertainment and don't pay too much attention to Basil Fawlty.

Stick to one week. Two weeks is a bit too long.

Our first holday abroad ever. We arrived at hotel after midnight, and staff waiting for us with a buffet plate each on arrival. Not too busy at this time of year, quiet, but the other guests were all friendly etc., the food was excellent, we had a good menu choice twice a day, with the bar serving food all day long. All very clean and helpful.

A local bus took us to Stalis, etc., easy to catch etc. We visited many local attractions, all good. We are returning again this year in September again to this hotel, with friends. Entertainment o.k. but not many guests to join in the fun, but we enjoyed it. A real relaxing holiday.

Nothing too much trouble for any of the staff (and they spoke good English, thank goodness)!
